Working on the land every day, operators require
a tractor that they can work to the limit. That's
why the innovative Deutz 4 and 6-cylinder turbo
intercooled FORTIS engine delivers high power
over a wide range of rpm, performance with a low
consumption. Thanks to the high pressure common
rail injection system, with two lubricated injection
pumps integrated in the engine block, and the
unique combustion chamber configuration, the
engine ensures outstanding, constant performance
even in the toughest jobs. In fact, the Common
Rail works at a maximum injection pressure of up
to 1600 bar, regardless of engine speed. This way,
together with the electronic engine governor it
guarantees outstanding torque rise starting at low
engine speeds.

The four valve per cylinder head ensures that the combustion
chamber is utilized completely and ensures the perfect fuel-air
mixture. Furthermore, the head design allows for positioning of
the injector so that fuel injection takes place in the centre of the
piston crown, where ignition is complete, thus optimising power
and consumption.
Electronic boost pressure control ensures the ideal air-fuel
ratio at low to mid engine speeds, while the system monitors
turbo pressure continuously, making it possible to respond
immediately to changing loads.
SCR - ADBLUE
FORTIS engines don't just follow the legal
regulations on emissions, they do so efficiently with
SCR technology (catalytic reduction of nitrogen
oxides).
With SCR technology, the exhaust gases undergo
after-treatment with AdBlue®, a 32.5% solution
of urea in demineralised water, which is injected
into the exhaust pipe upstream of the SCR catalytic
converter and downstream of the engine. Heated
by the exhaust, the gases decompose into ammonia
and CO2. Inside the catalyser, the NOx gases react
with the ammonia and change into non-hazardous
substances, like nitrogen and water vapour. The
Deutz engine's SCR system gives you reduced fuel
consumption and more power, due to the optimal
combustion ratio and how air enters clean rather
than being contaminated by exhaust gas.
The high cooling capacity is maintained with
a viscostatic fan and the large surface area of
the radiators. The hinged access system makes
maintenance of the entire system quick and easy.
Those that work in the field all day will also
appreciate the large capacity fuel tank that ensures
long productive hours before re-filling.
The engine's innovative electronic engine governor
system analyses the information and parameters
received from the engine, from a number of sensors
and from the driver to deliver precisely the amount
of power needed instantaneously.
The maximum power is constant over a wide range
of rpm. This means that when the speed is reduced
due to the load, in addition to increasing torque,
the power does not change, while the specific
fuel consumption drops considerably. For jobs like
ploughing and heavy transport these characteristics
translate into superior tractive force and flexibility to
deliver even greater productivity.

FORTIS
The FORTIS' new transmission is a big step forward
in terms of driving comfort and productivity. Three
configurations are available: 4-range T7140 with four
Powershift speeds, giving a total of 48+48 speeds
(with super-creep range); T7200 with 6 manual change
ranges, each of which with four Powershift speeds, for
a total of 40+40 speeds; T7200 CShift with 6 robotised
change ranges each with four Powershift speeds, for a
total of 40+40 speeds (on the T7200s the super-creep
speeds are available in the four lowest ranges).
A TRACTOR THAT TURNS INTO AN ASSISTANT.
You can reach 40 km/h saving the maximum amount of fuel while keeping noise to a minimum at just
1870 RPM, using the electronic engine governor. The next-to-top gear takes you to 40 km/h working at full
capacity. In the area of most used speeds (from 3 to 10 km/h) FORTIS have a generous 10 gear speed choices
which provide the driver with the right gear for each job. With the speed matching system, each change of
gear corresponds to an automatic selection of the most suitable Powershift stage (L,M,H,S).
The standard version of FORTIS, available for all models, has an armrest with all main tractor functions built into it: the four-speed Powershift transmission, the hand throttle with engine memory and dual traction system (differential locks, four-wheel-drive). In addition, the hitch is locked/unlocked by an enable button while the green lever operates the rear linkage to the maximum and minimum heights. A dedicated auxiliary valve controlled by a lever built into the armrest console lets
you operate the front hitch.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC SHIFT SYSTEMThe semi-automatic shift system (only available on
models with T7200 transmission) lets you manage
the six gear ranges simply by using the multi-
function lever, without using the clutch or moving
any mechanical gear levers. To change the gear
range (from 1 to 6) all you have to do is push or pull
the multi-function lever while pressing the enable
button on the back at the same time. Alternatively,
you can set the gear you want and the system will
automatically switch to it, setting correct engine
speed at the same time.
When changing up or down, the gears in Powershift
automatically adjust thanks to speed-matching,
while the electronic management of the robotised
transmission precisely and rapidly shift and
safeguard the components against overspeed or
loads that could compromise the system's integrity.
You will practically drive FORTIS with one hand,
going from one gear to the next in less than 0.5
seconds! All transmission parameters are visible on
the display on the cab's A-post: preset gear, gear
engaged, speed in Powershift (LMHS), forward or
reverse direction. The number “0” on the display
means you are in neutral.
With Automatic Powershift, available on all
the FORTIS' transmissions, driving is even more
comfortable: indeed, the electronic control unit
helps the driver select and automatically engage
the optimal Powershift speed, identified precisely
in conjunction with the loading and engine speed
detected, instantly.
All the driver has to do is set the operating mode
(with the designated dial), which lets you set a faster
or slower automatic shift response. Thanks to the
extremely rapid response time of the electronics, the
APS is particularly useful during jobs that require
you to shift gears frequently. This lets the driver
concentrate entirely on what he is doing; at the
same time, it improves the overall performance of
the engine and reduces fuel consumption.

ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC POWER SHUTTLEThe hydraulic power shuttle gives you complete
driving control.
The shuttle lets you easily change direction and
is ideal for quick, productive headland turns and
manoeuvres in tight spaces.
The usefulness of this feature is especially
beneficial when using the front loader, which,
unlike open field turning, usually operates with
quick shuttling cycles.
A thumb wheel control built into the shuttle's
lever, allows the driver to increase or decrease,
shuttle responsiveness depending on the
operation. You can also change direction on
a slope at up to 12 km/h, simply by using the
shuttle lever located below the steering wheel and
without pressing the clutch. The direction change
controls on the “INFINITY” version may also be
found on the multi-function lever, which allows
directional change by simply pressing two orange
coloured buttons.

FORTIS are equipped with a four-speed rear power
take off (540/540ECO, 1000/1000ECO), complete
with multi-plate wet clutch with modulated
electro-hydraulic engagement. These features
make FORTIS suitable for working with all types of
equipment, achieving maximum yield and lower fuel
consumption.
The multi-plate wet clutch is heavy duty design
to absorb the loading peaks involved when
working with heavy duty implements, and
engages progressively for superior reliability even
when working with implements with high torque
demands. ECO mode uses lower engine speeds to
reduce fuel consumption and noise. At mid-range
engine speeds it delivers consistant power for
maximum productivity and high torque.
The PTO can be activated both on the right-hand
console and by a button on both rear mudguards.
PTO The Auto PTO function lets the driver programme
PTO engagement and disengagement in relation to
the raising or lowering position of the rear hitch. For
applications using both front and rear implements, the
tractor is also available with an electro-hydraulically
controlled 1000 rpm front PTO driven directly by the
engine via a multi-plate wet clutch for progressive
engagement, with electro-hydraulic control.

POWER AND SAFETY WORK TOGETHER.The requirements of farm jobs are varied; that's why
the FORTIS' front axle's structure differs based on the
particular model.
However, common to all of them is a robust front-
wheel-drive system and a 52° steering angle with high
ground clearance.
The hydrostatic power steering with separate hydraulic
circuit uses a 42 l/min pump and 2 dual action steering
rams providing a progressive, smooth steering action
even at low engine speeds. With adjustable height
and inclination, the steering wheel has continuous
adjustment using a gas strut. The rim is covered in anti-
slip material and shaped for a safe, comfortable grip.
The front wheel drive is electro-hydraulically controlled
with the push of a button, and the differential can be
100% locked, guaranteeing a sure grip even under the
toughest conditions.
The electronic ASM system ensures the best traction
in any work situation, automatically managing front-
wheel-drive and differentials in relation to speed
parameters and the steering angle via sensors and an
electronic control unit. Activated with the push of a
button on the multi-function armrest or the console, the
ASM system also engages (automatically) the differential
locks when wheel slippage exceeds 25%. This gives
the advantage of greater grip and traction, for example
while ploughing.

The electronic ASM system improves traction in any working application.

FORTIS' Power Brake system maintains constant
pressure in the hydraulic braking circuit so the
driver can rely on immediate responsive, powerful
and progressive stopping action at all times with
minimum effort. The POWER BRAKE system includes
an auxiliary emergency accumulator which allows
up to ten brake pedal operations in complete safety
even with the engine off.
The braking system built into the FORTIS' four
wheels is made up of oversized multi-disc rear
brakes (five discs per side) on both of the rear
differential output shafts, and hydraulically operated
inboard front brakes. The wet disc brakes ensure
additional braking and work in tandem with the
main service brakes for true 4-wheel braking.
The inboard front dry disc brakes are particularly
effective when transporting on gradients, where the
additional braking capacity is a major advantage in
terms of safety and maneuverability.

The large rear tyres and sturdy lateral final drive
units ensure maximum grip and more effective
and powerful ground traction, while the optimised
weight distribution means less ballast is needed.

SUSPENSIONS THAT "LEVEL" THE TERRAIN.The main objective of a suspensions system is to
dampen oscillations. FORTIS is equipped with an
electronically controlled suspension system on the
front axle. The technological system is made up of
two hydraulic rams, a linkage system for the support
and three nitrogen-filled dampers. The electronic
management continuously monitors the damper
travel. This way, it always keeps the suspension at an
optimal level, regardless of the load applied in front.
For jobs where particularly high traction is needed,
you can deactivate the system to create a "rigid axle"
for increased traction.
In addition to having numerous manual adjustments,
the driver's seat is equipped with an air suspension,
which automatically adjusts to the driver's weight
and has an extra wide cushion.
For maximum comfort, a dynamic driver's seat
is available that reduces even the low-frequency
vibrations.
The self-leveling cab air suspension system allows the
frame to keep the cab constantly at the same height.
The distance between the cab and the tractor chassis
is always kept at a preset level regardless of the load
conditions, thanks to a position sensor, a compressor
unit, valves and pneumatic springs.

In the air-sprung version, compressed air is fed
automatically to the pneumatic springs in conjunction
with the cab loading, allowing the system to make full
use of the complete suspension travel whilst always
keeping the suspension perfectly level.
The combined effect of the sprung cab and axle makes
driving comfortable even on rough terrain at high
speeds.

EASY TO CONTROL IN ANY SITUATION.
To get the most out of FORTIS in the field you can
choose an "open-centre" (complete with an 83 L/
min capacity pump) or a "closed centre" (complete
without 120 L/min capacity variable displacement
pump) hydraulic system with load sensing.
The "closed centre" system allows the oil flow
requirements to automatically adjust to the
demand of the implements.
Basically, the pump only provides the required
amount of oil, instantly, giving the driver a rapid
response when operating the controls and high lift
response, even at low engine speeds. The result:
less energy use, less heating of the oil in the circuit
and longer life of the hydraulic components.
The hydraulic system operates
four auxiliary valves, equipped with detent, kick-
out and float functions, flow regulator and timer
control. All the hydraulic connectors are “push-
pull” and have a spill container for collecting the
oil (in case any leaks out while coupling up pipes to
the implements).
To make it even more user-friendly, the hydraulic
system's controls use levers (one of which is a
joystick) grouped on the right-hand console.
With the “INFINITY” version, the operator has
the option of more auxiliary valves, all of which
are electro-hydraulic, controlled within the multi-
function armrest, and additional proportional
controls built into the right-hand console. This
way you can control five rear auxiliary valves
plus the front hitch and a dedicated front valve.
Furthermore, an auxiliary valve may be controlled
directly using electro-hydraulic buttons on the rear
mudguards.
In models with the i-Monitor you can choose which
valve you want to be controlled using buttons on
the mudguards.

All FORTIS are equipped with an electronic hitch including radar slip control and have the capacity of carrying up to 9200 Kg in complete safety. The controlled precision of the control of the hitch is ensured by an electronic control unit that constantly monitors all system functions: draft, position, quick soil engagement, mixed mode, implement lock for transport, lift height limiting, rate of drop control,
ride control and wheel slip control.
The hitch control functions are set from the right-
hand console, which displays certain operating

parameters on a digital screen potion of the
instrument panel.
Specifically, slip control is a function that you can
manage directly with the designated dial.
Thanks to this efficient interaction of the electronic
system, the driver can control and monitor all the
information regarding function and productivity of
the tractor in real-time.
Furthermore, to simplify sequences of operations,
and repetitive sequences in particular, machines
can be equipped with the unique “comfortip”
function (only the "INFINITY" version): This is
an effective and efficient system that lets the
driver store operating sequences of up to sixteen
operations using the multi-function lever, and recall
them when needed with a simple touch of the
lever. A display on the instrument panel (and on
the iMonitor if fitted), shows the stored operations
with those that are being carried out with clear
symbols and icons.

WORKING IN COMPLETE COMFORT.
The new cab features make the differences between
the comfort of an automobile and that of FORTIS even
closer. The new interior trim with soft tones and relaxing
colours, together with a generous, spacious area, makes
your daily work environment pleasant and gratifying.
The curved windows increases the interior space even
more and the large doors allow access under any
conditions.
All controls are grouped logically by colour so that
they may be distinguished by function and are located
around the driver in a functional, ergonomic way
according to how frequently they are used.
On the “INFINITY” version, the multi function armrest
with built in joystick cements the "it's all at your
fingertips" concept, making control over the majority of
the FORTIS' functions safe and easy. The air-conditioning
and ventilation system keeps the required temperature
in the cab constant, regardless of the season or weather
conditions: 14 adjustable outlets located logically inside
the cab stabilise the inside temperature and eliminate
mist or frost. The air quality is controlled by special
filters which, installed on the cab's side posts, are
easily accessible for quick cleaning and maintenance
operations. The driver's seat with air suspension
has all the adjustments for individual customisation
and automatically adapts to the driver's weight.
Furthermore, it can come with dynamic control, which
reduces even further typical oscillations caused by rapid
accelerations on uneven terrain. For greater comfort you
can specify FORTIS with a built-in suspension system
that constantly keeps the cab the same distance from
the chassis. The wide surface of the window gives you
320° visibility, while the opening roof window with sun
blind further extends the view, particularly the upward
vision. Continuing to work even after sunset is easy: just
turn on the 15 powerful lights that come on FORTIS to
get complete all-round illumination to both the attached
implement and work area, extending the working day
and increasing productivity in safety and comfort.
