Forticrete - Low Pitch Roof Window System
Description of Product
The Forticrete Low Pitch Roof Window System
is a two-piece tray which sits between the
roofing underlay (Fakro Eurotop N35) and tile
battens as low as 10 degrees. The tray system,
roof window (Fakro FTP-V U3 Centre Pivot
Window – BBA Agrément Certificate 02/3944)
and flashing kits integrate to form a barrier
against moisture with any precipitation which
has found a way under the tile covering
(Forticrete Centurion) dispersed into the
guttering system in a controlled manner.

This is an assessment of the Forticrete Low Pitch Roof Window System. The system differs from conventional roof windows
and flashing kits in so much that it can, when fitted in conjunction with the Forticrete Centurion tile, be laid as low as 10
degrees.
In principle, conventional roof windows and flashing kits work by discharging precipitation up and over the face of the tile
covering. However, at lower pitches, below 15 degrees, precipitation does not run off so quickly which can lead to pooling
and a greater risk of moisture ingress. The Forticrete Low Pitch Roof Window System solves this using a patented two-piece
drainage flow system which collects any water which runs under the tile covering and disperses it across the trays, over the
fascia and into the gutter system in a controlled manner.
Forticrete Low Pitch Roof Window System specification:
• Must be installed with Forticrete Centurion tiles (CE Certified)
• Cannot be installed lower than 10 degrees
• Can be installed up to 15 degrees
• Tiles and ventilation products to be fitted in accordance with BS:5534, BS:8000 and BS:5250
• Minimum rafter length of 2.5m
• Maximum rafter length of 5m
• Must be installed with Fakro Eurotop N35 underlay (or similar) in accordance with BS:5534
• Must be installed with Fakro FTP-V U3 Centre Pivot Window (550mm x 980mm) and flashing kits (BBA Agrément
Certificate 02/3944)
• Single storey use only
• Sheltered locations only i.e. not recommend in exposed areas with higher wind speeds
The system assumes an intended working life of at least 10 years, provided that the conditions for the packaging, transport,
storage and installation as well as appropriate use, maintenance and repair are met. Guarantee supplied by Forticrete. No application has been made to seek approval for new dwelling warranty and the product is designed principally for
residential extension.
The indications given as to the working life cannot be interpreted as a guarantee given by the manufacturer but should only
be regarded as a means for choosing the appropriate products in relation to the expected economically reasonable working
life of the works.
The manufacturer shall exercise permanent internal control of production. All the elements, requirements and provisions
adopted by the manufacturer shall be documented in a systematic manner in the form of written policies and procedures,
including records of results performed.
The manufacturer may only use components stated in the technical data sheets.
The system has no specific requirement to achieve a U-value equal or less than 0.18 W/(m².K)² to comply with the Building
Regulations (insulation at rafter level). However, its thermal performance should be considered in the context of the
contribution made to the overall performance of the roof structure.
Site specific assessment should be undertaken to determine if the location is sheltered (including regional wind speed,
exposure zone and building height).
Protection must be provided when installing the system in rain or other inclement weather.
All supporting Fakro products, underlay and centre pivot window are CE certified under declaration of performance
certificate CE A01/CPR/14351/15. The windows are classed as non-combustible and AA rated (as stated in Section 11 of the
BBA certificate) and the pivot range of roof windows are BBA certified (certificate 02/3944).
