Wellington History comes alive at the FREE Wellington History Museum. Home to one of the largest private collections in Colorado, this museum offers a look into the past with rotating exhibits of Wellington, Native America, General George Armstrong Custer and The Little Bighorn. There are photos, films and video available for viewing. The museum is open Friday and Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and located in the Vestige Press building at 3740 Cleveland Ave. 970-490-2137.

The college town of Fort Collins is a short drive from the KOA. Visit Old Town, where many of the original buildings still remain, but the area has become a premier entertainment and shopping district with unique shops, fabulous art galleries and stunning architecture. Enjoy a variety of dining and cultural options, too!

Enjoy Colorado’s most beautiful river! Cache la Poudre River Canyon is truly a hidden treasure of Colorado with majestic cliffs and fabulous formations. Take a drive, hike, bike, fish or go rafting. Follow Colorado Highway 14 from its junction with US 287 up the canyon to the town of Walden in North Park. Along the way you will see the stunning Poudre Canyon, the Poudre River and vast forests, as well as high peaks and the Home Moraine Geological site. Anglers will find wild trout waters near the town of Rustic. Colorado fishing licenses and regulations are available at local stores. There are many hiking and biking trailheads along the road as it passes through the Roosevelt National Forest.

Rocky Mountain High in Colorado! Rocky Mountain National Park – Located just 35 miles from Fort Collins, the peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park beckon to visitors from 13,000 feet above sea level. Hike on over 359 miles of trails (from moderate to difficult,) climb fabulous rock formations, or relax and view wildlife like bighorn sheep, elk, deer, birds and more. Drive to the Continental Divide on Trail Ridge Road. The Park is open 24 hours a day 12 months of the year. A seven-day or annual pass is available at the entrance. Follow US Route 34 from the east through to Estes Park, then take Highway 36 to the Park.

A taste of Fort Collins. Fort Collins is the second largest producer of beer in Colorado and home to five breweries: The Anheuser-Busch Brewery (970-490-4691), New Belgium Brewing Company, Inc (970-221-0524), CooperSmith’s Pub & Brewing (970-498-0483), Fort Collins Brewery (970-472-1499) and the Odell Brewing Company (970-498-9070). Call for tour details, hours and directions.

Cheyenne Frontier Days! The Daddy of ‘em all has been kicking up dust since 1897, with the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and Western Celebration. Highlighting ten days of rip-roarin’ excitement is the world’s best PRCA rodeo action and Western entertainment. It’s non-stop activity and hospitality at its Western best! 2012 dates — July 20th to 29th.
