FORSYTH COUNTY ROAD EXPANSIONA LOOK AHEAD

SR Homes looks ahead at the future of Forsyth County roads and the impact of

traffic circulation for homeowners. The extensive road construction underway

in Forsyth County is truly revolutionary and will have a positive effect with

regards to traffic flow, commerce, and transportation to important areas in

the heart of Atlanta.

The road construction is not only a direct result of Forsyth County’s growth and

a solution to traffic flow concerns; it is the springboard for future development

in the area.

FORSYTH COUNTY ROAD EXPANSIONA LOOK AHEAD

GDOT Partner Projects:McGinnis Ferry @ GA 400 Interchange - This project will consist of construction of a full diamond interchange

on SR 400 at McGinnis Ferry Road. The project would add northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes on

SR 400 south to Windward Parkway ramps and north to McFarland Parkway ramps of the existing McGinnis

Ferry Road bridge, which would be replaced. McGinnis Ferry Road would be widened to 4 lanes on the

Fulton County side of SR 400 and to six lanes on the Forsyth side of SR 400 with a typical that would include

curb and gutter with 5 foot sidewalks and/or a multi-use path. Right and Left turn lanes would be added and

proposed bridge would be designed to span the future managed lanes on SR 400.

GA 400 - McFarland Parkway to SR 369 - This project proposes to construct one additional 11 foot travel

lane, 10 foot inside shoulder (of which 8 feet would be paved), and 11 foot paved outside shoulder in each

direction on US 19/SR 400. Project limits are from the McFarland Parkway interchange north to at least Bald

Ridge Marina Road, with possibility of widening to SR 369 / Browns Bridge Road. The project length is up

to approximately 13.4 miles in both directions. The construction of the additional lanes and inside shoulder

would take place in the existing median of US 19/SR 400.

SR 371 Widening - SR 9 to Kelly Mill Road - 3.82 miles.

SR 369 Widening & SR 369 @ GA 400 Interchange - SR 9 to SR 306 - 1.86 miles.

New Interchange

Major Road Widenings:Brookwood Road (SR 141 to McGinnis Ferry Road) - Brookwood Road widening from McGinnis Ferry Road

to SR 141 (Peachtree Parkway) will include two lanes in each direction with a 20’ raised median, shoulders,

curb and gutter, and 5-foot sidewalks. The length of the project is approximately 1.1 miles.

McFarland Parkway (McGinnis Ferry Road to GA 400) - 1.0 miles: 4 - 6 Lanes, 20’ raised median.

McGinnis Ferry Road (Sargent Road to Union Hill Road) - 4.58 miles - 4 lanes, 20’ raised median.

Old Atlanta Road (McGinnis Ferry Road to James Burgess Road) - This project proposes widening the

existing two lanes of Old Atlanta Road to a four lane roadway with a 20’ raised median, curb and gutter,

sidewalks and turn lanes, as needed. Right-of-way acquisition is currently underway for Phase 3 from

McGinnis Ferry Road to St. Marlo Country Club Parkway. Phase 4 begins at St. Marlo Country Club

Parkway and ends at Olde Atlanta Parkway. Phase 5 will begin at Olde Atlanta Parkway and end at James

Burgess Road.

Old Atlanta Road (Sharon Road to Nichols Road) - This project proposes widening the existing two lanes of

Old Atlanta Road to a four lane roadway with a 20’ raised median, curb and gutter, sidewalks and turn

lanes, as needed. Right-of-way acquisition is currently underway for Phase 2 from Sharon Road to Nichols

Road.

Sharon Road (SR 141 to Old Atlanta Road) - This project proposes widening the existing two lanes of Sharon

Road to a four lane roadway with a 20’ raised median, curb and gutter, sidewalks and turn lanes, as

needed.

Union Hill Road (McGinnis Ferry Road to McFarland Parkway) - This project consists of the widening of

Union Hill Road from SR 400 to McFarland Parkway. The length of the project is approximately 1.7 miles

with 2 lanes in each direction with a 14-foot flush median, shoulders, curb and gutter, and 5’ foot sidewalks.

Union Hill Road/Mullinax Road (McFarland Parkway to SR 9) - The project proposes to widen the existing

two lanes of Union Hill Road/Mullinax Road to a four lane roadway with a 20-foot raised median, curb and

gutter, sidewalks and turn lanes, as needed.

Additional Major Road Widenings:Bethelview Road (Castleberry Road to SR 20) - Castleberry Road to SR 20 will consist of widening the existing

two lanes to a four lane roadway with a 20’ raised median, curb and gutter and 5’ sidewalks.

Castleberry Road (Cumming City Limits to Bethelview Road) - This project proposes widening the existing

two lanes of Castleberry Road to a four lane with a 20’ raised median, curb and gutter, sidewalks and turn

lanes, as needed. The project also includes installation of new traffic signals at Fieldwood Drive /Devonshire

Way and at Piney Grove Road/Piney Grove Drive.

Pilgrim Mill Road (Cumming City Limits to Freedom Parkway) - 1.29 miles: 2 lanes to 4 lanes.

New Roads:Ronald Reagan Boulevard Extension - Majors Road to McFarland Parkway, 3.30 miles - 4 lanes, 20’

raised median.
