How can water be observed?

The state water is in depends on the temperature of the water.
Water in the form of liquid is at a temperature range from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
Water is in its solid from whenever its temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
What Effects Water’s State?
![Page 7: Forms of Water By: Bailey Spindler References. Grade Level: 1 st Grade Content Area: Science Forms of Water](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062715/56649d8b5503460f94a72e8a/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
In what seasons do we see water in the liquid state, and when do we see it in the solid state?
The Seasons
SummerWe see water in the liquid state during the summer because the
temperatures are warmer.
SpringWe usually
see water in the solid
state in the ending
months of winter and water as a
liquid in the months closer to summer
FallWe usually
see water in the liquid
state in the beginning
months of fall and water
solid state in the months
closer to winter
WinterWe see water in the liquid state
during the winter because the
temperatures are colder

The basic state we think of water is in it’s liquid state.
We can find water in the liquid state. What are some places we see water in the
liquid state?
Liquid

These are some areas we find water in the liquid state:
Lakes Rivers Rain water Puddles Ponds Drinking water *Ocean
Liquid
*What makes the ocean different from the other areas we find water?
![Page 10: Forms of Water By: Bailey Spindler References. Grade Level: 1 st Grade Content Area: Science Forms of Water](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062715/56649d8b5503460f94a72e8a/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The ocean is different than lakes, ponds, and rain water because instead of being fresh water it is salt water.
All humans and animals need fresh water to survive
Marin animals like sharks and dolphins need the salt water that only the ocean can provide.

What are some activities we can do when water is in the liquid state?
Swim Drink Boat Water Plants Bathe

Water can be also be in the formation of solids, one example of these solids is snow.
Snow is water that falls from the clouds when the air’s temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
Snow

Where are some places we see snow? Arctic Mountain Tops During the Winter

What are some activities we can do with snow?
Sledding Skiing Build Snowmen Snowball Fight Build an igloo

Water can also be found in the solid form when it is in the form of ice.
Ice is different from snow because the water started out in the liquid state and then froze after it’s temperature dropped below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
This is how lakes and ponds freeze in the winter, or how we make ice cubes to keep our drinks cold.
Ice
![Page 17: Forms of Water By: Bailey Spindler References. Grade Level: 1 st Grade Content Area: Science Forms of Water](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062715/56649d8b5503460f94a72e8a/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Where are some places we see ice? Lakes Ponds Puddles Hanging from the roof Ocean

What are some activities we can do on the ice?
Ice Skating Hockey Ice Fishing Its important to remember to stay safe on
the ice, as it can become very slippery and cause injury.

So now you decide what here is a solid and what is a liquid?
What makes each one of these a solid or liquid?
