Conservatives Canada West Name: Conservative Party Leader: John A. Macdonald Represented: Minority Members: Former Tories and moderate reformers. Protestant, Anglophone with ties to Britain. Canada East Name: Parti Bleu Leader: George-Étienne Cartier Represented: Majority Montreal bourgeoisie Reformers. Business people. Had support of the clergy.
