1. Welcome, introduction, and objective of the meeting

The chair welcomed the participants, followed by a round of introduction.

He highlighted that the objective of the meeting was for partners to share updates on emergency needs and interventions in Madinatu/Old Maiduguri.

2. WASH activities update (plans, progress, achievements and

challenges:

UNICEF The UNICEF representative highlighted that drilling of two, out of

three boreholes had been completed. Construction of overhead tanks was planned for the following week.

UNICEF shared their plan to upgrade an existing, or drill a new, borehole in Gungolong area of Madinatu

UNICEF explained that procurement of contractors was almost completed for new latrines, and construction was scheduled to commence in the next two weeks

UNICEF to commence construction of two overhead tanks

UNICEF to to upgrade an existing, or drill a new, borehole in Gungolong area of Madinatu

UNICEF to commence construction of latrines in two weeks’ time in Gungolong, Old Maiduguri and Madinatu

MSF Holland MSF affirmed their capacity to construct 200 drop holes and 50

shower rooms therefore, they are willing to step in, should any gap arises.

MSF also affirmed their capacity to dislodge 200 drop holes up to the 30th April, 2017. They urged that this message be extended to all cluster members

MSF has the capacity to construct 200 drop holes and 50 shower rooms. if any gap arises they are willing to step in.

Borehole already drilled by the CBDA cannot be accessed and put to use

Massive gaps in sanitation but land owner still a stumbling block

Engr Kefas to liaise with GM RUWASSA towards possibility drilling a new borehole or commence water trucking

Actions taken on Shuwari 2 as a new borehole had been drilled

• Need for additional latrines and water supply in Old Maiduguri

• Need to enforce roll-out for facility construction at Hurso Bashir

NRC siting a new borehole in Filling Ball/Hurso Bashir

All partners were advised to continuously brainstorm on the general sustainability of all facilities constructed
