OCTOBER 2013
Happy Fall to All!
I hope the summer was great for all of you this year—the club had a successful year
thanks to all of you, our members—so please let me thank you for all of your help and
support during my first year as Commodore, and I am looking forward to serving you in
my upcoming year. As has been often mentioned, this is your club, and it can only sur-
vive by your support and ideas, so please keep them coming. Also, please join my in re-
membering those members and their spouses who have departed us this past year—
they will be missed, but not forgotten.
Thank you to all my Bridge Officers who worked so diligently to keep things organized
and smooth running. Please let me not forget our committee chairmen and their mem-
bers—they spend a lot of their time and efforts in order to facilitate the operation of
the club—thank you to all.
Congratulations to Holly Candia and her officers for a year well done and further congratulations to Holly,
as she is serving her next year as President of the Ladies Club.
We have lots of things going on, including our upcoming Commodores’ Cocktail Party (where Angler of the
Year Awards will be given), and our Change of Watch on October 5th. These are two great affairs, always a
lot of fun, so please let Vice Commodore Dan know that you will be attending.
The Tournament Committee starts its next season with the Striped Bass and Bluefish Tournament begin-
ning on October 12th, ending on November 16th, with the awards being presented on November 17th at the
club. Guido and the Committee have worked very hard at planning and running these tournaments, so please
fish the tournaments and help to make them more successful, as this can only benefit our club.
The Annual Christmas and New Years Eve parties are scheduled, so make sure to sign up for these. In addi-
tion, the Bridge will be scheduling the parties for 2014 after the Change of Watch, so if anyone would like
to rent the club or run a party, please let us know after the Change of Watch in order that Vice Commodore
Ron Tholen can schedule it.
Chaplin Bill Lloyd is stepping down as club Chaplain after many years of dedicated service and diligence.
Chaplain Bill has done a terrific job in serving the club and maintaining our moral and ethical standards.
Thank you Chaplain Bill for your commitment and dedication; your flag was well earned. Congratulations to
our incoming Chaplain---Mike Sowa—we look forward to his leadership and spiritual guidance. Please let
them know of your appreciation to this office.

This is my last report as your Rear Commodore. Its been a blast keep-
ing the AOTY board up to date with all the changes we had this year,
(see above for winners). I will be giving the awards out at the Commo-
dores’ Cocktail Party on the 28th.
Hope to see you all there. Ron
Rear Commodore Ron Tholen
Hope everyone had a great season! I would like to congratulate Jerry
and the rest of the Bridge for a great year and to the members who
ran parties through out the year. I am looking forward to being Fleet
Captain and expect to do some fishing this year! We have a very full
calendar so check it out to see the upcoming events. The Commodores’
Cocktail Party is Saturday, September 28th at 6pm. All you have to do
is bring something to eat. Lots of food, dancing, AOTY awards, and a 2-
hour open bar. October 5th is the Change of Watch and so far I have
very few people signed up. See the flyer for more details. The Recruit-
ment Committee will be hosting a Open House on November 10th at 6pm. Flyers are at-
tached so please print them and put them at any businesses you patronize.

It has been another fun year at the Club. I want to thank all of the members that
participated in club activities over the past two years. I know I had a great time and
I hope you all did too. We closed out this year's events with a Sail Away to Bay View
Terrace. It was one of those perfect late summer days. We enjoyed good food and
service on the patio at the res-
taurant.
Every new Bridge brings a new,
fresh perspective to our club. I
look forward to enjoying the
fun times that Dan Tholen will
bring in as our new Fleet Cap-
tain. I have offered to coordinate some of the events
for Dan, like a Broadway show next year and continua-
tion of our wine-making experience. And I am planning
a Deck Party for Friday, October 18th to say goodbye to Summer and to our members moving South for the
Winter. We will offer food for a nominal fee and enjoy our deck and music, on what should be a fantastic
fall evening. Don't forget to bring your favorite deck chair. 2013 was a great year.
2014 will be even better!
