Fork Lift Truck

Forklift is a powerful industrial truck that is used to transport and pick-up equipment. It is sometimes called lift truck, trailer loader and fork truck. The

development of the modern forklift was in the early 20th century.

The components of a forklift truck are, truck frame, cab, overhead guard, counterweight, tight cylinders, power source, load back rest, carriage, mast and

some attachments.

Truck frame is to which the counterweight, mast, axles, overhead guard, power source and wheels is attached and this is usually the base of the truck. The cab is

the place for the operator that is sometimes open or enclosed but with a cover called overhead guard to protect the operator from different weather conditions. It contains the sit, gears, pedals, steering wheel, switches, dashboard and levers.

The counterweight is used to counterbalance the materials being loaded. It is attached to rear frame of the truck. The tilt cylinders are attached to the mast and truck frame. It rotates the mast to aid in engaging a picked up material. Forklift truck might powered by alternating current or direct current. The truck

has an internal combustion engine powered by a gasoline or a diesel fuel. Some forklifts are powered by either a fuel cell or a battery. The load back rest

is an extension that is attached to carriage to avoid the load from shifting backward. Carriage is the part of the truck to which some other attachments are

mounted. It has a roller to direct it in the mast rails.

The mast is used to raise and lower the loads and is made up of joined rails. The rails might have either bushings or rollers as a guide. It is attached either to

the frame of the truck or in the front axle. And it is operated by hydraulic cylinder. Some attachments includes carpet poles, carton clamps, container handlers, rotators, roll clamps, fork positioners, sideshifters, pole handlers,

slipsheet attachments and multipurpose clamps
