Seedling/Sapling Forest This seedling/sapling forest began its life cycle with a clear-cut harvest in 2005. Clear cutting encourages trees like black cherry, oak and aspen, which need full sun as seedlings. Seedlings and saplings provide excellent habitat for wildlife such as rufed grouse, eastern box turtle and New England cottontail.
