Pre‐ Bid Meeting Items:
1. See attached sign‐in sheet from the pre‐bid meeting on 12/14/17.
Questions/Answers:
1. Question: Is the pool painted currently? Answer: No.
2. Question: The plans say to remove the frog and log raft. Does anything new go in their place? Answer: The plans call for removal of the anchoring hardware for the floating raft and frog. There will not be anything new being installed in these two locations. Clean and patch anchor attachment areas before applying plaster.
3. Question: The plans call for items to be reworked in the mechanical room. Per
our understanding, we are to replace the piping from the pump discharge on. So essentially 95% of the piping is being replaced. In the process, we are replacing the filters, the piping as described, the valves and gauges. We understand that we will be re‐using the chemical feed systems, the pumps, pump strainers, pump suction piping valves, pump motor starters and flow meters. Please confirm. Answer: Please review plans and specs. Chemical Feed systems are to be re‐connected per drawing details. Pump, pump suction valve and connection, strainer and motor starter to remain. New flowmeters are required.

4. Question: The specifications indicate the “main drains are to be constructed to
meet VGB requirements”. Are we replacing the grating and frames only or are we tearing out the existing drains and reconstructing? Please confirm. If we are modifying the concrete boxes, please provide details. Answer: The existing drains are to be removed and reconstructed with all new pieces. The concrete boxes are to remain unmodified.
5. Question: The plans show safety pads at the termination of two play slides and the large pad under the rope swing. Do we remove all three pads and reinstall or remove the pads and replace with new pads? If new pads, please specify a manufacturer. Answer: The Owner will provide three (3) new safety pads for these locations. The Contractor is to remove all three (3) safety pads, clean and re‐install Owner provided pads.
6. Question: Can we get a manufacturer of the lily pads that are to be replaced? Answer: The Owner will provide the replacement lily pad, all new anchoring and associated fastening hardware. The BoMar floatable Lily Pad FL50 (Large) to be installed is shown in the attachments for reference.
7. Question: We understand that we are to remove and clean the pads at the base
of the poles at the Lily Walk. Do we replace or simply reinstall? If we are to replace the pads, please specify a manufacturer. Answer: Contractor to remove, clean pool deck and install new Owner provided pads.
8. Question: It is our understanding that the original construction including padding
around the four cargo net poles. Is any work to be done to this padding at the poles? Answer: The pads currently wrapping the poles are new and are to remain in place. Contractor to clean existing pads.
9. Question: Note 13 on Sheet C‐0, says, “Remove padded seat wall”. Do we
assume that this means removed padding not the seat wall? Answer: Remove padding currently installed on seat wall. Concrete wall to remain. Contractor to purchase and install new padding in this location.
10. Question: Can you provide a manufacturer for the replacement seat wall
padding? Answer: Renosys softside safety pads or equivalent to match existing ‐ (800) 783‐7005.
11. Question: A note on C‐0 says to remove 6 Lily pad panels and protect cylinders in
place. Are the cylinders considered to be the floor anchors? Answer: Yes.
12. Question:There is a detail on Sheet C‐2 that shows floatable anchors with cover. Is this detail included so that Contractor has an idea of what the anchors look

like under the frog and log raft? Or does this mean that we are supposed to put in new anchors somewhere?Answer: This detail is included so that Contractors understand what the anchors look like. The frog and log raft and anchors are not being replaced. These anchor locations are to be plastered over.
13. Question: Spec section 2.04B specifies the installation of new collector tubes
under the main drains. Are we replacing collector tubes, please confirm. Answer: No.
14. Question:Spec section 2.05, A1 says “Provide piping between the pool and filter
room”. Are we tearing out existing piping all the way to the equipment room? Answer: No.
15. Question: Spec 2.05B5 Specifies pipe below the deck and below the equipment
room floor. Are we installing any new pipe under the deck or under the equipment room floor? Answer: No.
16. Question: Other than piping above grade in the mechanical room, why are there
references in the specifications to below grade piping? Answer: There will be no below grade piping work.
17. Question:2.05B10, This paragraph specifies the installation of a site sump pump
and piping. Confirm if a new site sump is required. Answer: Site sump is not required.
18. Question:2.05B13 specifies all stainless steel fasteners and hardware. Is this just
for the new valves and flanges in the replacement piping or are we replacing the bolts and fasteners on the suction piping that remains. Answer: All new connections that require hardware shall be stainless steel.
19. Question:2.05B18, This paragraph specifies the use of waterstop collars on new
pipe penetrations at walls, we do not see any pipe penetrations specified, please confirm. Answer: Waterstop collars are not required.
20. Question:Can we get a specification for painting the water features as shown on
the drawings? Answer: There is to be no painting on any of the play structures in the pool.
21. Question:The drawings indicate that the play structure, mushroom and tipping
bucket get cleaned and repainted. Can we assume that the poly/plastic/fiberglass waterslides on the play structure do not get painted? If they do get painted, please specify a paint for the poly/plastic slides. Answer: Do not paint play structure elements.

22. Question: There is a large commercial water slide and slide tower. Please confirm that no painting work is to be done on the slide tower. Answer: No painting work is to be done on the slide tower.
23. Question:Regarding the specifications, it seems like this project would be best
served if we got a new, job specific set of specifications. Unless we are mistaken, there are dozens of references in the specifications on work that is not shown on the drawings. Please confirm. Answer: Work not shown in the drawings was included in the specifications in the event additional work is required to complete work shown in the drawings.
24. Question: There is one relief fan to be replaced in the pump room and exhaust fans in the acid and chlorine rooms. Are the exterior louvres to remain? Answer: Yes, the exterior louvres are to remain.
25. Question: Will HVAC or electrician wire exhaust fans? Answer: The work shown on the plans is to be installed and working correctly per the project contract. Trades required to install and connect the work shown in the plans will be determined by the General Contractor.
26. Question: The specifications call out three (3) layers of tile to be removed and
replaced. How many layers of tile are there to be replaced? Answer: All tiles in pool and around pool and coping are to be removed and replaced with new tile. Currently there are two (2) layers of tile in place scheduled for removal and demo in the project plans.
27. Question: There are two (2) cup anchors with no callouts directing the Contractor to remove and or replace. What is to be done with the anchors? Answer: These anchors are to be removed and the area underneath is to be cleaned, patched and plastered over.
28. Question: Is the caulk joint between the tile and the coping to be replaced? Answer: All joints on the pool deck, adjacent the coping and tile are to be replaced to match existing per manufacturers recommendation.
29. Question: The plans have a callout to paint the walls, ceiling, doors and floors in
the pump room and acid/chlorine rooms. Is the floor to be painted the same as the other surfaces? Answer: The floor in the pump room and acid/chlorine rooms is to be sealed with Tnemec or equivalent epoxy sealant to match existing and appropriate for a pool chemical environment. Contractor to submit product data to Owner’s Representative for submittal review prior to construction.

30. Question: We understand that the scope of work for this project includes the caulk joint around the pool at the back side of the coping. However, does our proposal need to include new caulk for the rest of the deck joints? These joints tie together in some places. Answer: Deck caulking is included in the scope of work, pre sheet C‐0 Legend; and Project Manual, Scope of Work , section 01010‐1, Part 1 GENERAL, C., item #3, “Removal and replacement of all caulking on pool deck joints and pool tiling”.
