YOUR FORD NEW VEHICLELIMITED WARRANTYFord Motor Company of Canada, Limited(Ford of Canada) warrants that itsauthorized dealers will repair, replace oradjust those parts on Ford cars and lighttrucks, that are found to be defective inmaterials or workmanship made orsupplied by Ford for the coverage periodsdescribed in the Warranty Informationsection of this Warranty Guide.

WHO IS AUTHORIZED TO DOWARRANTY REPAIRS?You must take your vehicle to anauthorized Ford or Ford Lincoln dealer forwarranty repairs. While any Ford or FordLincoln dealership handling your vehicleline will provide warranty service, werecommend you return to your sellingdealer.

Please note that certain warranty repairsrequire special training and/or equipment,so not all dealers are authorized toperform all warranty repairs. This meansthat, depending on the warranty repairneeded, you may have to take yourvehicle to another dealer. In certaininstances, Ford may authorize that yourvehicle be repaired at a repair centreother than a Ford or Ford Lincoln dealerfacility.

A reasonable time must be allowed toperform a repair after taking your vehicleto the dealership. Repairs will be madeusing Ford or Motorcraft® Parts, orremanufactured or other parts that areauthorized by Ford.

WHO PAYS FOR WARRANTYREPAIRS?Ford of Canada covers the cost ofwarranty repairs performed under theNew Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverageduring the “time and distance travelled”limits of the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty.

Federal or provincial governments mayrequire an environmental or disposal tax(levy) on all or a portion of a warrantyrepair, in which case this tax (levy) mustbe paid by you, the owner of the vehicle.

WHEN DOES THE WARRANTYBEGIN?The warranty begins on the original retaildelivery date, or on the date of first use(whichever occurs first).

This is the “original warranty start date”.

WHAT IS COVERED?

BASIC COVERAGEUnder your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, Basic Coverage begins at theoriginal warranty start date and lasts for36 months or 60,000 kilometres(whichever occurs first). The completevehicle is covered under this BasicCoverage, except components listedunder the following warranties in thisWarranty Guide, and those items listedunder “What is Not Covered Under thisNew Vehicle Limited Warranty?” onpage 14.

HYBRID UNIQUE ANDELECTRIC VEHICLE UNIQUECOMPONENT COVERAGE

Hybrid Unique ComponentCoverageUnder your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, the following components arecovered against defects in factory-supplied material or workmanship for8 years or 160,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) from the original warrantystart date:

• High-voltage battery, hybridcontinuously variable transmission,inverter system controller (ISC),DC/DC converter, high-voltagebattery connector, battery pack fanassembly, service disconnect,charger fan, battery energy controlmodule (BECM) and the plug-inhybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)on-board charger.

Electric Vehicle UniqueComponent CoverageUnder your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, the following components arecovered against defects in factory-supplied material or workmanship for8 years or 160,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) from the original warrantystart date:• High-voltage battery packs, high

voltage charger, DC/DC converter,electronic drive module assembly(includes electric motor and gearbox) and transmission rangesensor.

If an electrical drivetrain systemcomponent requires replacement underwarranty, it may be replaced with a new,factory remanufactured, or factoryrefurbished component, at Ford'sdiscretion. Refurbished batterycomponents selected for your vehiclewill align with your vehicle's age andmileage, and meet Ford's stringentrequirements and standards.

The Lithium-ion battery (electric vehiclebattery) will experience gradual capacityloss with time and use (similar to alllithium-ion batteries), which isconsidered normal wear and tear. Lossof battery capacity due to or resultingfrom gradual capacity loss is NOTcovered under the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty. See your Owner’s Manual forimportant tips on how to maximize thelife and capacity of the lithium-ionbattery.

NOTE: The Focus Electric vehicle (orany fully-electric vehicle) is not eligiblefor any emissions warranties describedin this booklet.

FORD ROADSIDEASSISTANCE1-800-665-2006Your vehicle is eligible, within Canada orthe continental United States, for theFord Roadside Assistance Program. ThisProgram is separate from the NewVehicle Limited Warranty, but thecoverage is concurrent with the 5 years or100,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst) Powertrain Coverage period.

Towing required because of awarrantable failure beyond the 5 years or100,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst) Powertrain Coverage is coveredunder any remaining applicable NewVehicle Limited Warranty coverage.

CORROSION COVERAGEUnder your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, Corrosion Coverage begins atthe original warranty start date andcovers body sheet metal panels againstcorrosion due to a defect in factory-supplied materials and workmanship.The length of the coverage depends onthe type of corrosion damage:• If corrosion causes perforations

(holes) in the body sheet metalpanels, the coverage extends for5 years/unlimited distance.

• If corrosion does not causeperforations (holes), and is not theresult of vehicle usage and/orairborne materials, the CorrosionCoverage is 36 months or60,000 kilometers (whicheveroccurs first).

If your vehicle is damaged due toairborne materials (environmentalfallout) where there is no defect infactory-supplied materials orworkmanship and therefore noapplicable Ford of Canada warranty,Ford of Canada will still cover paintdamage due to airborne materials(environmental fallout) for 12 months or20,000 kilometers (whichever occursfirst). See “Damage Caused by Use orthe Environment” page 15.

ALUMINUM BODY PANELCORROSION COVERAGEYour vehicle’s aluminum body sheet metalpanels, if any, are covered for an extendedCorrosion Coverage Period, which lasts forfive years, regardless of distance driven. Ifaluminum body panels have corrosion orrust damage, and the damage is not theresult of abnormal usage, vehicle accident,customer actions and/or extremeenvironmental conditions, the corrosion orrust damage repairs are covered for5 years, regardless of distance driven. Fordamage caused by airborne material(environmental fallout) where there is nofactory-related defect involved andtherefore no warranty − our policy is toprovide no extra charge repair of paintdamage due to the airborne material for12 months or 20,000 kilometers, whicheveroccurs first.

POWERTRAIN COVERAGEUnder the New Vehicle Limited Warranty,the Powertrain Warranty Coverage coverscertain components against defects infactory-supplied materials orworkmanship for 5 years or100,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst) from the original warranty startdate. The diesel engine has a UniquePowertrain Coverage that extendsbeyond the 5 years or 100,000 kilometres(whichever occurs first) PowertrainCoverage, see details below). Thecovered components listed under thePowertrain Warranty are:

Engine- All internal lubricated parts;cylinder block; cylinder heads; electricalfuel pump; powertrain control module;engine mounts; flywheel; injection pump;manifold (intake and exhaust); manifoldbolts; oil pan; oil pump; seals andgaskets; engine thermostat; enginethermostat housing; timing chain cover;timing chain gears and belts;turbocharger/supercharger unit; valvecovers; water pump.

Transmission- All internal parts; clutchcover; seals and gaskets; single speedgearbox (for the Focus Electric); torqueconverter; transfer case (includinginternal parts); transmission case;transmission mount

Front-Wheel Drive- Axle shafts;front-wheel bearings; seals and gaskets;universal and constant velocity joints.

Rear-Wheel Drive- Axle shafts;rear-wheel bearings; centre supportbearing; drive axle housing and allinternal parts; drive shaft; retainers;supports; seals and gaskets; universaland constant velocity joints.

Four-Wheel Drive/All-Wheel Drive-Axle shafts, bearings (front and rear),center support bearing, drive shafts, finaldrive housing (including all internalparts), hubs-automatic front locking(four-wheel drive), locking rings(four-wheel drive), seals and gaskets,universal and constant velocity joints.

DIESEL ENGINE UNIQUEPOWERTRAIN COVERAGEUnder the New Vehicle Limited Warranty,the following components are coveredagainst defects in factory-suppliedmaterials or workmanship for 5 years or160,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst) from the original warranty startdate.

Transmission- All internal parts; clutchcover; seals and gaskets; torqueconverter; transfer case (includinginternal parts); transmission case;transmission mounts.

Four-Wheel Drive- Axle shafts;front-wheel bearings; rear-wheelbearings; centre support bearing; driveshafts; hubs-automatic front locking;locking rings; seals and gaskets; constantvelocity and universal joints.

Rear-Wheel Drive- Axle shafts;front-wheel bearings; rear-wheelbearings; centre support bearing; driveaxle housing and all internal parts; driveshaft; propeller shafts; retainers;supports; seals and gaskets; universaland constant velocity joints.

DIESEL ENGINE COVERAGEThe New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverscertain Direct Injection Diesel Enginecomponents against defects infactory-supplied materials orworkmanship for 5 years or160,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst) from the original warranty startdate.

Covered components: engine, cylinderblock, heads and all internal parts, intakeand exhaust manifolds, timing gear,harmonic balancer, valve covers, oil panand pump, water pump, fuel system(excluding fuel lines, fuel tank, and framemounted fuel conditioning modulesometimes referred to as the framemounted pump/filter/water separator orframe mounted fuel filter/waterseparator), high pressure lines, gasketsand seals, glow plugs, turbocharger,two-stage turbocharger assembly,turbocharger actuator, powertrain controlmodule, high pressure fuel injection pumpassembly, injectors, injection pressuresensor, fuel rail pressure sensor, exhaustback pressure regulator and sensor,exhaust pressure sensor, manifoldpressure sensor, intake air temperaturesensor, crankshaft position sensor,camshaft position sensor, acceleratorswitch.

NOTE: Some components may alsobe covered by the Emissions Warranties.See page 10 for more information.

SAFETY RESTRAINTCOVERAGEUnder your New Vehicle Limited Warranty,safety belts and air bag SupplementalRestraint Systems (SRS) are coveredagainst defects in factory-suppliedmaterials or workmanship. Safety RestraintSystem Coverage begins on the originalwarranty start date and lasts for 5 years or100,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst).

EMISSIONS CONTROLSYSTEMS COVERAGEThe Emissions Control System is coveredby two warranties: the Emissions DefectsWarranty and the Emissions PerformanceWarranty.

Emissions Defects WarrantyCoverageUnder the Emissions Defects Warranty, Fordprovides coverage from the originalwarranty start date for emissions relateddefects for 24 months or 40,000 kilometres(whichever occurs first) for passenger carsand light duty trucks (applies to vehicles upto 3,856 kilograms (8,500 lb) GVWR); or 5years or 80,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) for heavy duty vehicles over3,856 kilograms (8,500 lb) GVWR up to8,845 kilograms (19,500 lb) GVWR. Duringthis coverage period, Ford warrants that:

• Your vehicle or engine is designed,built and equipped to meet theapplicable emissions standardsprescribed by law at the time it wassold.

• Your vehicle or engine is free fromdefects in factory-suppliedmaterials and/or workmanship thatcould prevent it from conforming tothose applicable emissionsstandards.

• You will not be charged fordiagnosis, repair, replacement oradjustment of defectiveemissions-related parts listedunder Parts Covered by theEmissions Defect and PerformanceWarranties.

NOTE: The Focus Electric vehicle (orany fully-electric vehicle) is not eligiblefor any emissions warranties describedin this booklet.

Emissions PerformanceWarranty CoverageUnder the Emissions PerformanceWarranty Coverage, Ford will repair,replace or adjust – with no charge forlabour, diagnosis, or parts – anyemissions control device or system:• If you have maintained and

operated your vehicle according tothe instructions on proper care inthis Warranty Guide and yourOwner’s Guide;

• If your vehicle fails to conformduring the warranty coverageperiod of 24 months or40,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) for passenger cars andlight duty trucks (applies tovehicles up to 3,856 kilograms(8,500 lb) GVWR), or 5 years or80,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) for heavy duty vehicles

over 3,856 kilograms (8,500 lb)GVWR up to 8,845 kilograms(19,500 lb) GVWR, to theapplicable emissions standards;

• If you are subject to a penalty orsanction under local, provincial, orfederal law because your vehiclehas failed to conform to theapplicable Emissions Standards (apenalty or sanction can includebeing denied the right to use yourvehicle); and

• If your vehicle has not beentampered with, misused, or abused.

TIRE WARRANTYTwo separate warranties apply to thetires on your new vehicle. The NewVehicle Limited Warranty covers tiredefects in factory-supplied materials orworkmanship until the earlier of: (i)expiration of the Basic Coverage period of36 months or 60,000 kilometres(whichever occurs first); or (ii) until thetire requires normal replacement, for100% of labour costs and on a pro rataadjustment basis for parts (see theReimbursement Schedule below).Defective tires will be replaced on a prorata adjustment basis according to thefollowing kilometre-basedReimbursement Schedule:

In some circumstances, Fordmay authorize another brand and modelto substitute for the original brand and/ormodel even if still available.

FORD ORIGINALACCESSORIES COVERAGEFord of Canada warrants that theirauthorized dealers will repair or replaceany Ford Original Accessory that isproperly installed by the authorizeddealer that sold the accessory and foundto be defective in factory-suppliedmaterials or workmanship during thewarranty period noted below, as well asany component damaged by thedefective accessory. The accessory willbe warranted for the greater of thefollowing:

• 24 months unlimited kilometres; or• The remainder of your Basic

Coverage period.This means that Ford OriginalAccessories purchased along with yournew vehicle and installed by the dealerare covered for the full length of yourBasic Coverage period – 36 months or60,000 kilometres (whichever occursfirst).

In fact, failure to perform maintenance asspecified in your Owner’s Manual willinvalidate warranty coverage on partsaffected by improper maintenance.

• Vehicles determined to be a “totalloss” by an insurance company(this will void the New VehicleLimited Warranty)

• Converted ambulances that are notequipped with the Ford AmbulancePrep Package*

SYNC HANDS-FREECOMMUNICATIONS ANDENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMIf your vehicle is equipped with SYNC, theNew Vehicle Limited Warranty does notcover repairs or replacement undercertain conditions. Some examplesinclude:• Loss of personal recording media,

software or data• Failure to provide proper

installation environment• Damage caused by:

– abnormal use such as insertion offoreign objects, fluid spillage

– unauthorized modifications– computer or internet viruses, bugs,

worms, Trojan Horses, cancelbots– installation of unauthorized

software, peripherals andattachments

– unauthorized, unapproved and/orincompatible repairs, upgradesand modification

– the defective function of a cellularphone or digital media device(e.g., inadequate signal receptionby the external antenna, viruses orother software problems)

* IMPORTANT INFORMATIONON AMBULANCE ANDFIRE/RESCUECONVERSIONS:

Ambulance and Fire/RescueConversionsFord vehicles are suitable for producingambulances and fire/rescue vehicles onlyif equipped with the Ford Ambulance PrepPackage or Fire/Rescue Prep Package. Inaddition, Ford urges ambulancemanufacturers and fire/rescue vehiclemanufacturers to follow therecommendations of the “Ford IncompleteVehicle Manual” and the “Ford Truck BodyBuilder’s Layout Book” (and pertinentsupplements).

Using a Ford vehicle without the FordAmbulance Prep Package or Fire/RescuePrep Package to produce an ambulance orfire/rescue vehicle voids the Ford NewVehicle Limited Warranty and may void theEmissions Control Systems Coverage underthis warranty. Vehicles used as ambulances

Whetherthe vehicle is equipped with the FordAmbulance Prep Package or Fire/RescuePrep Package may be determined byinspecting the information plate on thedriver’s rear door pillar. Knowing whether theambulance or fire/rescue manufacturer hasfollowed Ford’s recommendations can bedetermined by contacting your vehicle’sambulance or fire/rescue manufacturer.

WHAT IS NOT COVEREDUNDER THE TIREWARRANTY?Normal wear and/or worn-out tires arenot covered by the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty.

Other examples of items not covered are:• Road hazard damage including

cuts, snags, bruises, bulges andimpact breaks (due to potholesand curbs or other road hazards).

• Damage caused by a puncture ortire repair.

• Damage from improper inflation oralignment, tire chains, racing,spinning (e.g. when stuck in snow ormud), and improper mounting ordismounting.

• Tire vibration or ride harshness isnot covered beyond 12 months or20,000 kilometres (whicheveroccurs first) unless caused by adefect in factory supplied materialsor workmanship.

• Tires replaced other than pursuantto the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty Tire Warranty are noteligible for the balance of the TireWarranty, however they may carrytheir own warranty (see your dealeror the tire manufacturer for moreinformation).

Any implied warranty or condition as tomerchantability or fitness is limited to theapplicable warranty duration period asspecified herein.

In no event shall Ford of Canada or theselling dealer be liable for the loss of ordamage to the vehicle or its parts, loss ofuse of the vehicle, loss of time,inconvenience, commercial loss, orspecial consequential or other damages,or on any other claims relating to orarising from any defect in factorymaterials or workmanship found exceptas provided for herein.

The above provisions do not preclude theoperation of any applicable provincialstatute which in certain circumstancesmay not allow some of the limitationsand exclusions described in thesewarranty coverages.

In the province of Saskatchewan theduration of the applicable statutorywarranties of that province shall beconcurrent with and not consecutive tothe duration of the foregoing coverage ofthis Ford of Canada New Vehicle LimitedWarranty.

INSPECT YOUR NEW VEHICLECAREFULLYDefects or damage to paint, sheet metalor other appearance items may occurduring assembly or when the vehicle is intransit to the dealer. Normally, thesedefects are noted and corrected at thefactory or by your dealer during newvehicle inspection. Paint, sheet metal orappearance defects present at the timeyour vehicle is delivered to you arecovered by this warranty. For yourprotection, we suggest that if you do findany such defects, you notify your dealerwithin one week of the vehicle’s deliveryto you, as normal deterioration due to useand exposure is not covered by thiswarranty.

Defects vs. DamagePlease note the distinction between“defects” and “damage” as used in thewarranty. Defects are covered becausewe, the manufacturer, are responsible.This includes defects in Ford-suppliedparts used in making warranty repairs aswell as in the original parts of the vehicle.On the other hand, we have no controlover damage caused by such things asmodifications, collision, misuse and lackof maintenance. Therefore, damage isnot covered under this warranty.

GENERAL INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITYFord of Canada’s Roadside Assistancecovers all Ford of Canada cars and lighttrucks. Service will be provided to thedriver of the registered Ford Lincolnvehicle by Sykes Roadside Services onbehalf of Ford of Canada.

Roadside assistance benefits aretransferable to subsequent owners ofyour vehicle, at no cost, within the5 year/100,000 kilometers coverageperiod (whichever occurs first).

COVERAGE PERIODAlthough this program is separate fromthe New Vehicle Limited Warranty, thecoverage is concurrent with the5 year/100,000 km (whichever occursfirst) Powertrain coverage period.Roadside Assistance coverage expiresafter 5 years or 100,000 kilometers,whichever occurs first, from the originalvehicle in service date.

This initial coverage is a complimentaryservice. Ford of Canada may cancel yourinitial coverage at any time by writtennotice. There is no refund available to youin the event of cancellation.

COVERAGE SERVICESFord Roadside Assistance coverage is nota warranty, but a service provided to youby Sykes Roadside Services on behalf ofFord of Canada to minimize anyunforeseen vehicle operationinconvenience. All coverage is limited tovehicles using publicly maintained roads(excludes off-road use, logging roads,etc.) and adjacent sites, and any otherlocations, which in the discretion of theservice provider constitutes a publiclytravelled thoroughfare.

ROAD SERVICETowing of a disabled vehicle to thenearest Ford dealership, or the sellingdealer if within 25 kilometers of thenearest Ford dealership (one tow perdisablement). In the event that you use aservice other than Ford RoadsideAssistance, we will reimburse you up to amaximum of $75 per disablement. Towdispatches will occur on drivable andoperable approved Ministry ofTransportation roads where a towingfacility can be safely dispatched.Extenuating circumstances will bereviewed on a case-by-case basis by FordMotor Company of Canada Limited.

TRAILERSThe Program provides limited benefits fortrailers being towed by the vehicle eligiblefor Roadside Assistance. Trailers will becovered up to $100 if the disabled eligiblevehicle requires service/towing to thenearest qualified dealer. If the trailer isdisabled, but the towing vehicle is fullyoperational, the trailer does not qualifyfor any Roadside Assistance Services.

SERVICE CALLS

Battery BoostProgram provides for no charge jumpstarts for dead batteries. If the vehiclecannot be jump started, it will be towedat no charge.

Fuel DeliveryProgram provides for up to 10 liters offuel to stranded vehicles (out of fuel andnot running) at no charge. Vehiclesstranded at refuelling stations or dealersare not eligible for benefits. Delivery of upto 10 liters of fuel (max of 2 deliveries percalendar year).

WinchingWinch-out services for vehicles stuck inmud or snow on or near paved roads iscovered. Winching covers a maximum of100 feet from the road. Recoveries arenot included as part of RoadsideAssistance towing. Recoveries aredefined as those efforts made to get avehicle to a surface where a tow hook-upcan occur.

Flat TiresProgram provides for no-charge spare tiremounting to replace flat tires or disabledwheels only. If a vehicle has more thanone flat tire and cannot be driven, thevehicle may be towed at no charge to thenearest authorized dealership or tireservice facility. This program does notcover tire repair.

ITEMS EXCLUDED FROMCOVERAGE• Parts, tire repairs, rental of towing

equipment, storage fees, or anylabour performed at a garage orservice station.

• Any form of impound towing byother than a licensed servicestation or garage.

• Parts involved in lock-out service.• Assistance from private citizens.• All service operators providing

service are independentcontractors and are not employeesof Ford. Therefore, the FordRoadside Assistance Club does notassume any liability for any loss ordamage to your vehicle or yourpersonal property resulting fromthe rendering of such service.

• Any loss or damage is the soleresponsibility of the servicingfacility and should be reported tothe proprietor of the facility andyour own insurance companywithin 24 hours and prior to anyrepairs being carried out. Concernsabout the service can be reportedat the following contactinformation.

EMERGENCY LOCK-OUTSERVICEShould you accidently lock yourself out ofyour vehicle Ford Roadside Assistance wewill come to unlock your vehicle. Keyrecovery and/or replacements are notcovered. In the event that you use aservice other than Ford RoadsideAssistance, we will reimburse you up to amaximum of $75.

EXTREME WEATHERCertain geographic areas may experienceweather or other situations that couldtemporarily affect the ability of service tobe provided in a timely manner. In thesesituations, the 1-800 phone messageadvises of the delay in service in aparticular area and may recommend tocustomers that they arrange their ownservice if possible. Claiming incurredexpenses will be reimbursed up to amaximum reimbursement limit of $75 perdisablement. www.roadsideaid.com is anoption to request service as well,customers can select the option to havean agent call them back through virtualhold rather than waiting on line.

EMERGENCY TRAVELEXPENSE REIMBURSEMENTShould your vehicle become disabled dueto a mechanical breakdown while you aremore than 160 kilometers from yourresidence address, we will reimburse youup to $500 (in total), for the followingreasonable emergency expenses, (whennot covered by insurance).

Covered Expenses:• Local lodging and meals (excludes

alcohol and tips).• Vehicle rentals from bona fide car

rental agencies (excludes gasexpense).

• Commercial transportation to yourdestination, and return after repairsare completed.

Coverage period is the lesser of: date ofvehicle disablement up to three (3) daysin total, or the time at which your vehicleis repaired. Claims must be submittedwithin 20 days of incident to be eligible.

REIMBURSEMENT CLAIMINGPROCEDURESIn the event that your vehicle has vehiclebecome disabled due to a mechanicalbreakdown and you have had to use aservice other than Ford RoadsideAssistance or while you are more than160 kilometers from your residenceaddress, simply print out this claim form

to receive reimbursement for eligible towservices or travel expenses. File yourclaim no later than twenty (20) daysafter the occurrence.

Please include a letter detailing thesequence of events from the time thevehicle broke down to the time thevehicle was picked up.• Include paid receipts that clearly

detail the nature of the servicebeing claimed, including copies ofthe tow receipt or repair/work orderthat pertained to the breakdownand all other pertinent receipts forthe claim.

• Please retain a copy of all receiptsand documentation.

• Please allow 4-6 weeks for theprocessing of your claim form.

There are a number of ways you cansend in your claim to us. Once you havecomplied your documentation andreceipts.• Go to Ford.ca to complete the

Claim Form and submit online.• You can bring your claim form and

documentation to your local forddealer who will submit the claim onyour behalf to Sykes RoadsideServices who is performing theroadside services on behalf of Fordof Canada.
