Required: Configuring IDS and VCM II for the first time NOTE: Before beginning this procedure ensure that your computer's antivirus software and firewall have been disabled.

1. Disconnect any VCM I and VCM II devices from the computer. 2. Start the IDS software. 3. Connect the VCM II to the computer using a USB cable (Figure 1). A vehicle connection is not required.

4. The “Device Selection” tab will automatically appear at the top right corner of the screen after approximately 30 seconds. When this tab appears the installation was completed successfully. If the Device Selection tab is already present on your computer continue to the next step.

5. The VCM II software may require an update which typically takes about 10 minutes. Please follow the on-screen instructions.

6. The VCM II is now ready to start a vehicle session.
