F O R D M U S T A N G ' S MOST MEMORABLE MOVIE MOMENTS
INTRODUCTION
The Ford Mustang has been a hugely popular car over the years, and it's no surprise that it continues to find its way into a number of Hollywood productions.
In fact, the Ford Mustang has been prominently featured in over 500 films since it first hit the market in 1964. Let's take a look at the cinematic history of this classic American car.
G O L D F I N G E R ( 1 9 6 4 )
Moviegoers first laid eyes on the Ford Mustang in the James Bond film Goldfinger.
The actress Tania Mallet was the first person to drive a Mustang on screen. She gets forced off the road after encountering the "tire slasher" on Bond's car.
Goldfinger came out in September 1964—only five months after the Mustang was introduced.
BULLITT (1968)
Movie fans still talk about the nine-minute car chase sequence in Steve McQueen's Bullitt. That's a 1968 Mustang GT 390 Fastback that McQueen expertly steers through the streets of San Francisco in pursuit of the bad guy.
It's an amazingly realistic chase that probably had a lot to do with the decision to award Bullitt the Oscar for Best Film Editing.
Speaking of car chases, Gone in 60 Seconds is famous for its non-stop auto action. 93 cars were wrecked during the making of the film!
The featured automobile in the film is a 1971 Ford Mustang named "Eleanor.“
The movie was remade in 2000 with Nicolas Cage in the lead.
GONE IN 60 SECONDS (1974)
DEATH PROOF (2007)
It's not one of Quentin Tarantino's more popular films, but Death Proof has plenty of auto action for car lovers.
A vibrant yellow-and-black 1972 Ford Mustang features prominently in the second half of the movie.
A lot of dialogue in the film revolves around classic '70s car movies, including Vanishing Point and Gone in 60 Seconds.
This sci-fi movie starred Will Smith as the last living man in New York City after a disaster has wiped out almost everyone on Earth. His only companions are his pet German Shepherd and his red-and-white Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500. What else does a man need?
The opening sequence of I Am Legend shows Smith zipping his Mustang through the vacant streets of New York.

DEATH
RACE
(2008)
Starring Jason Statham, Death Race is a futuristic sci-fi film about a prison inmate forced to participate in a demolition derby-style sport in order to earn his freedom.
The car Statham drives is actually a 2006 Ford Mustang GT. Keep in mind that those flamethrowers and machine guns on the vehicle were put there just for the movie—they aren't standard Mustang features!
NEED FOR SPEED (2014)
This movie deals with a high-stakes auto race. So what vehicle does our hero depend on to get from Point A to Point B? A custom Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500, of course.
The Mustang featured in the film was later sold at auction for $300,000.
