Ford India Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the global automotive giant Ford Motors, came to our country in the year 1995. Having its headquarters at Chennai, Ford India currently sells a range of cars here. Ford cars are known for theirstylish bodies and potent engines. Some of the fuel efficient petrol and diesel cars from Ford are discussed here.

Figo is the most popular car in our country from Ford. Easy drivability and superb driving dynamics make the Figo a great driver’s car. Ford offers Figo in both petrol and diesel variants including LXI, EXI, ZXI and Titanium. The petrol one is a 1.2 litre, 1196 cc engine giving out 70 bhp of power at 6250 rpm. The diesel engine is a 1.4 litre, 1399 cc unit delivering 68 bhp of power at 4000 rpm. The petrol variant gives a mileage of around 12.5 kmpl in the city while on the highway it offers around 15.5 kmpl. On the other hand the diesel car yields a mileage of around 16 kmpl in the city and 19 kmpl on highways.

Fiesta is the second popular car around which is a good family sedan. The latest Fiesta model offers excellent ride and handling. The Ford Fiesta petrol variant comes with a 4 cylinder In-line 16V DOHC, 1499 cc engine that generates 108 bhp of power at 6045 rpm and yields a peak torque of 140 Nm at

Another one car which has been now in the market for a long time is the Ford Classic. It is available with two engine options - a 1.6 litre, 4-cylinder, Duratec petrol unit that produces 101 PS and 146 Nm of torque and a 1.4 litre, 4-cylinder, Duratorq diesel motor that develops 68 PS and 160 Nm of torque. The petrol engine provides fuel economy of 21 kmpl whereas the diesel engine provides 32 kmpl.

But the car that indeed made Ford proud is the Ecosport SUV. Ford offers Ecosport in three engine options - 1.5 litre and 1.0 litre Ecoboost petrol engines and a 1.5 litre oil burner diesel engine. The 1.5 petrol unit is available in a 6 speed automatic transmission as well. Ford EcoSport mileage for its diesel version is 19.5 kmpl, while the same for its petrol version is 15.89 kmpl. Ford Ecosport delivers a rare combination of performance and power along with a decent mileage.
