On Remembrance Day, we pay tribute to the many heroes who have made

the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in a country free from tyranny andgoverned by freedom, democracy, and justice.

We stand in silent reflection for those brave men and women throughout his-tory who, when called upon to defend the values we hold dear, did not wa-ver.

Instead, they left family and loved ones for far away battlefields from which

many would never return.

From the battle of Vimy Ridge, to the beaches of Normandy, to the dusty

roads of Afghanistan, these brave men and women put their countrys’ wel-

fare before their own, and we owe them and their families a debt of grati-tude that can never be repaid.

As we know all too well, the tolls of war have been felt from generation to

generation.

Our society’s long and proud tradition of standing up for those who couldn’t

is forever imbedded in our fabric.

DiGIOVANNI, Tony, is Executive Director of Landscape On-tario Trade Association. In Letters to the Editor across On-tario, DiGiovanni has personally spoken out against theprohibition of pest control products on a very frequent ba-sis. Unfortunately, DiGiovanni appears to be a lone voice

among other leaders who operate Landscape Ontario.

DRYSDALE, Art C., is one of Canada’s best–known horticul-turists. For the past four decades he has been writing, andpresenting radio and television broadcasts, with practicalgarden hints. On his radio show, and in his i–Can–Gardenblog, Drysdale is an outspoken critic of the prohibition of pest control products.

HEPWORTH, Lorne, is President of CropLife Canada. In Let-ters to the Editor across Canada, Hepworth has personallyspoken out against activists and prohibitions on a very fre-quent basis. Unfortunately, Hepworth appears to be a lonevoice among those manufacturers who are refusing to getmore directly involved to fight the prohibition conspiracy,except, of course, for Dow AgroSciences.

HOLLAND, John J., is Communications Director for Inte-grated Environmental Plant Management Association of

Western Canada Trade Association. He an eloquent and in-telligent writer on the subject of public policy and pest con-trol products.



LOWES, Jeffrey P., is Director of Government and IndustrialRelations for M–REP Communications. M–REP Communica-tions represents lawn and tree–care companies in Ontario,Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.M–REP Communications has embarked on engaging theFederal levels of government that regulate or use the ser-vices of the lawn and tree–care industries and working with

their provincial counter parts.

SOLOMON, Professor Keith R., Ph.D., is a Professor in theDepartment of Environmental Biology at the University of Guelph, and is also Director of the Centre for Toxicology.He has more than thirty years of experience in research andteaching in pesticide science and environmental toxicology.In Letters to the Editor across Ontario, both ProfessorSolomon and his wife Sandra have personally spoken outagainst activists on a frequent basis.

Force Of Nature, and its various incarnations, is the brainchild of William H. Gathercole and his colleagues. Mr. Gathercoleis a principal FOUNDER of the Modern Professional Lawn Care Industry in BOTH Ontario and Quebec. He holds a degree in

Horticulture from the UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH, and another pure and applied science degree from McGILL UNIVERSITY.He has worked in virtually all aspects of the Green Space Industry, including GOLF, PROFESSIONAL LAWN CARE, andCHEMICAL INDUSTRY, and has served in environmental compliance, government negotiations, public affairs, and work-

place safety. Mr. Gathercole has supervised, consulted, programmed, and/or overseen the successful and safe executionof HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of pest control applications in the urban landscape. He has trained, instructed, and con-sulted with THOUSANDS of turf managers and technicians. Mr. Gathercole has also been an agricultural agronomist. For

many years, Mr. Gathercole was a contributing columnist for TURF & Recreation Magazine, Canada’s Turf and GroundsMaintenance Authority.

Mr. Gathercole and his colleagues have followed the evolution of ENVIRONMENTAL TERRORISM for over a quarter century.For FIFTEEN YEARS, the strategies designed and implemented by Mr. Gathercole and his colleagues guaranteed the control
