We are planning a flashmob for the National Young Carers Awareness Day which is on Thursday 28th January and we need you to be involved in this. This is also open to ALL young carers. By the way we’re connecting to Babble - an online community for all young carers’ nationwide who are under 18 years old. You can join too. Go to https://babble.carers.org and sign up. See ya! From the YAC group For Young Carers aged 5 - 25 A Note From ... Young Adult Carers 14 17s Hey! We got together recently and Roy asked us to contribute to this edition. At the moment there are about 6-8 of us that meet at The Woodlands centre on Lower Bristol Road, in Bath, every other Wednesday from 5.30pm. We get to hangout and chat, eat and drink tea and hot chocolate and have a lot of fun. Currently we are known as the YAC group (as we’re Young Adult Carers) but we’d like to rename this group. So we are ‘under re-construction’. If you are in our age group we’d like to hear from you about a name for the group. Why not come to the next one on Wednesday, 9th December. It would be great to see you! Chill

A Note From ... Young Adult Carers 14 — 17s

Hey!

What We’ve Been Up ToCelebrating Carers 2015

We had our annual awards ceremony in October and celebrated lots of our young carers and your achievements

over the year. Joe Lomax was our Young Carer of the Year because of his work with the Young Carers’ service and being a positive role model for the younger kids.

We also had awards for our young carers art groups and our winners included Vicky

Smith, Jessica Austin, George Plummer, Rowen Ellis and Kelly Warren. You can see lots of the artwork on display at the Bath Carers’ Centre.

October Half Term

Everyone had a great time at the Royal High School who kindly let us use their facilities during half term to improve our footballing skills. Even Roy showed the young carers his footballing flair. See our team picture on the cover!

Bonfire Night

We had an awesome firework display on Bonfire Night as you can see from the pictures!

What’s OnINVEST Project

The Young Carers Service is excited to announce a new programme for 18 – 25 year olds. The INVEST project is all about supporting young

adults, providing a safe space to discuss any issues you might have while caring for someone. We want to

help you with:

• budgeting• cooking• IT and internet• job skills

• self-employment • first aid.

We are holding a launch in January which will be fun! If you’re interested and you’re 18 — 25 then email [email protected] and we’ll contact you!

Christmas Activities

Don’t forget that you will have just received a letter about our Christmas trip to the Pantomime. We’re going to the Egg Theatre to see Jack and the Beanstalk so you need to get your return slip back to the office as soon as possible as we only have 30 seats.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from all of us at the Carers’ Centre.
