General overviewThe main overview of the story includes a core 3, different perspectives on the meaning behind “skinny love”. Our first interpretation focuses on the past and present stages of a broken relationship via one person’s point of view but we will use two people to show this. One will embody the past and the other, the present. The second is about a hidden intimate relationship between two girls, the relationship is unknown to anyone else as they are both scared to come out. This dance will capture the terror of feeling like the outcast and the psychological struggles that both girls are feeling. The third is about a girl who is struggling with an eating disorder, in this solo the dancer will perform a piece that shows that the demons inside her head are trying to take over her mental state as they have already successfully taken control of her physically. We will follow the three different stories throughout the music video and contrast each different view into each other, whilst dancing sequences are taking place. There will also be a small fourth perspective which is a group performance, this is up for interpretation by the dancers but the focus will be on unity and empowerment.

OverviewThis storyline is focusing on the theme, past and present, showing the stages of a broken relationship, portrayed by one person’s point of view. We want to display the impact that a broken relationship would have on one person only, however we will use two people to present this. One will be their past self and the other will be their present self. The two dancers will highlight how the past can have an effect on them emotionally and mentally, and how relationships fracture ones confidence. By the end of this dance, there will be no self-empowerment nor will there be fulfilment, the characters shall simply fade into self-loathing.

OverviewThis dance will be a performance that shows two girls in a relationship that are scared to 'come out' to the outside world. For this storyline, we want to portray the terror of feeling like an outcast and the psychological struggles that both girls are feeling. One of the girls will embody persona of a man being trapped in a the body of a woman (dancer 1), where she desires freedom but is afraid of rejection. Her happiness is granted by her partner, the other dancer (dancer 2), as she accepts her for who she is and loves her for it, yet both are ashamed of who they are and the stigmas that come with the coined terms and ideology. Both of them have to come to the decision to either live with or without each other. But before dancer 2 decides to declare her love and decision to 'come out', dancer 1 kills herself. Focus on the words “Love” and “Lost”

Inspiration• Song: Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray• There can be many reasons people are afraid to ‘come out’ as lesbian, gay

or bisexual.• Religious condemnations, gay jokes, put downs, judgments, snide remarks.• “Will I be accepted?”• Afraid of rejection. • The forced creation of an alter persona.• Terror of feeling like the outcast.• Struggles are psychological and emotional.

OverviewAn eating disorder is essentially someone who is engaging in disordered thinking when it comes to food. Instead of thinking of food in terms of nutrition and appetite, a person is thinking of food in terms of how that person thinks of themselves and how they look. It’s a very personal thing but also a thing that wants to be shared, therefore the dancer has chosen to perform to reveal the nature of her eating disorder. Through dance, the character should show that she wants to be stable and strong enough to destroy her eating disorder but her demons keep pulling her under as the urge is too strong. She also goes through the stage of denial, where she pretends that her addiction doesn’t exist. But the dancer will focus on the metaphorical eating disorder voice, or voices, that lure her down the wrong path. Therefore, she will show an intense internal argument that ends with her giving up and fading into darkness. The lighting and makeup for this section will be particularly dark, extreme low key lighting and a large range of close ups will be used in order to capture emotion and the expressions of the characters. This solo will be used to open and also end the music video.

Lyric Help‘’come on skinny love just last the year’’ – this line of song is going to be able how the character is unable to relapse after a year. ‘’Pour a little salt we were never here’’ ‘’ Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneers’’ – the first line of the two states that the character is trying to cleanse herself and make herself stable enough not to relapse. The character will be shown as trying to pretend her addiction doesn’t exist. ‘’I tell my love to wreck it all’’‘’ cut out all the ropes and let me fall’’‘’ right in the moment this order’s tall’’ – This narrative is stating that the character wants to destroy her eating disorder, and escape from it. This is shown through the narrative of ‘wreck it all’ and ‘cut all the ropes and let me fall’.

OverviewThe dancers should show that even though there are problems around, you can fight your demons with the support of others. Therefore, the dance will convey a sense of unity. All of the dancers will be a mirror image of each other, wearing and looking the same. Individuality will not be shown, in order to portray equality. The dancers will be in sync with one another.Makeup for all of the characters will be minimal and plain, whilst the costumes will be dark.
