The KJSCE Shield-Sports is an inter-departmental competition which is open to all the
students of KJSCE. Every event under Shield is free of cost to all the students and they have to
give in their entries to their respective branch representatives. The sporting events throughout
both the semesters are:
Odd semester:
➢ TABLE TENNIS
➢ BADMINTON
➢ CHESS
➢ CARROM
➢ BOX CRICKET
Indoor sports were conducted between 19th
-26th
September 2017.
→ RULES FOR KJSCE SHIELD:
GENERAL RULES
1. Participants are requested to reach 10 minutes prior to the reporting time and must
present their ID cards for the match.
2. Decision made by the event heads and referees will be final.
3. Any misconduct caused during the event regarding the same will result into disciplinary
action.
4. Undertaking has to be filled by all the participants before the match. Failing to do so,
the student won't be allowed to participate.
5. Any injury or casualty caused to the participant during the course of the event is their
responsibility.
6. Male participants can participate in maximum two sports.
7. There are no restrictions for girls.
Disciplinary Action
If found guilty the student can be,
1. Debarred from participating in any sporting activity throughout all 4 years held in
college or representing any of the college team.
2. Severe action will be taken which may include suspension from the college.
3. BE’s if involved in any extreme misconduct may face action in their placement
processes.
However, it is expected that none of the above would be required and students would co-
operate with the Organizing Committee in making KJSCE Shield a success.
The first leg of the decorated KJSCE Shield was held from 17th January to 24th January
2018. After the huge success of Indoor Shield, the Students’ Council organized the
Outdoor Shield for the students of KJSCE. With enthralling matches, and nail-biting
finishes, the Outdoor shield was a complete treat for everyone, and it has spiced up the
Shield rankings.

The competition covers the sporting spirit an engineer should have, the technical
knowledge to play a part in the developing technological world, and the cultural aspects
which brings out the add-on talents they possess, making them an all-rounder. The
support of our Sports Incharges :- Dr. Deepak Sharma and Prof. Rajesh Pansare and
cooperation of all the students ensured that the event is a huge success.
We can proudly say that students took part in large numbers and showed a lot of
love for their respective branches and also dedication for the sport. All the rules
mentioned in the rulebook were adhered properly by everyone and the spirit of game
was maintained all along the competition.
The following outdoor sports were held in the span of 7 days in our college campus with
a thumping support from all the branches.

Point System The point system to be followed for events having multiple teams from each branch is as
given below:-
● 1st position:- 16 points
● 2nd position:- 9 points
● 3rd position:- 5 points
The point system to be followed for events having single team from each branch is as
given below:-
● 1st position:- 26 points
● 2nd position:- 15 points
● 3rd position:- 9 points

The fifth edition of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering’s annual sports festival, Skream, was
held from 6th to 10th January, 2018. Building upon the success of last year, Skream saw an
unprecedented participation from colleges all over the country, which has certainly set a
benchmark for all the future editions of the beloved festival. With participation from reputed
institutions such as IIT Bombay, VJTI, ICT, COEP, SRM, VIT, and BITS Goa, amongst others,
the competition soared to new heights! In all, Skream witnessed a record participation of around
2300 students. In brief, the five days of Skream was a paradise for all the sporting enthusiasts.
The opening ceremony of Skream 2018 was a grand affair, and was graced by illustrious
sporting personalities such as Rio Olympian- Mr. Devindar Walmiki, Paralympic Fencer- Mr.
Vibhas Sen, and Mr. Mumbai in body-building- Mr. Manish Advilkar. The insightful speeches of
these reputed personalities galvanised the participants to give their best in the five days that
were about to unfold. There was an exhibition match contested by the talented players of IBFF
(Indian Blind Football Federation), under the tutelage of Mr. Sunil. J. Mathew. These players
reiterated the fact that perseverance and dedication can overcome every physical and mental
barrier.
There were exciting matches in all sports, and the talent at display was a delight to watch.
Amongst the sea of talents, some managed to write their name in the books of winners, while
others ensured that their performances will be remembered for a long time. Apart from the 14
sports, there were some exciting informal events that ensured the spectators enjoyed

themselves to the fullest. People thronged in numbers for pickleball, footwall, and other fun
informals, which just garnished the already flourishing edition of Skream.
The closing ceremony was also fun-filled and winners were felicitated by our guests of honour.
Mr. Uday Bedekar- a bridge player, Mr. Mandar Phadke- a Ranji Trophy cricket player, Kanchan
Basak- former table tennis national champions and Mr. Rajesh Pawar- a left handed batsman,
honoured the closing ceremony with their presence. Sports Secretary Aayush Shah, gave a
heart-warming speech before the culmination and hence, declared ‘Skream 2018’ close.
