Mission
SHARE is a higher education initiative whose mission is to maximize research impact by making research widely accessible, discoverable, and reusable. To fulfill this mission SHARE is building a free, open data set about research and scholarly activities across their life cycle.
SHARE is
● Free, open data set of research and scholarly activities harvested from 125+ data providers
● Notification service of >6.5 million research events of data mgmt plans, preprints, articles, repository deposits, and other scholarly activity
● Harvester of diverse set of data providers: funders, publishers, data repositories, institutional repositories, scholarly activity
● Community of international members such as funders, publishers, government orgs, universities

Collecting All Stages of the Research Lifecycle
Why SHARE, Fedora, and VIVO?
Let them work together to do what they do best...
...
High Level Goals
● Enhance serendipitous discovery of research materials through item level recommendations or search results within an institutional repository interface
● Track, collect, and display research activity by researchers at a given institution or within an academic department.
● Create compelling integration between SHARE, VIVO, and Fedora 4 that harnesses the strengths of each platform
● Enrich the metadata within each of VIVO, Fedora, and SHARE with that of the two other systems to stitch together that wider picture of research and scholarship
Use Case 1: Recommended Items
“When viewing an item generate and display a recommendation list of other items someone could be interested in that is like a virtual browse of related items based on time, location, venue (e.g., journal, event)of time, space, location, subject, and author relationships.”
Use Case 2: Enhanced Search
When a user searches on keywords or other terms integrate related items into search results based on venue, subject, or collaborator affinities mentioned in the previous use case to promote more discovery of unknown items (again similar to browsing a real shelf in a library).

Use Case 3: Combined Researcher Activity
Show a list of recent researcher activity for a given institution (e.g. Notre Dame), a certain department, or a particular user that includes both activity of IR deposits as well as publications, presentations, etc.*

Technical Goals
● Highlight the benefits of a Fedora 4 architecture over Fedora 3
● With support of the wider Fedora community in mind, create reference implementation of user interface elements within Hydra and/or VIVO
● Foster more standardization around person and work models in Hydra/Fedora/VIVO communities
● Apply models within the Linked Data for Libraries (LD4L) project to research events=
● Create a widely accessible module that could be utilized at an institutional level to harness the SHARE data feed of broadly aggregated research events

Widgets and Interfaces
Next Steps and Opportunities
Prototyping Phase (2016)- In Progress
● Continue Development of Recommended List Widget for VIVO
● Continue Development of Institutional Dashboard in SHARE
● Create Recommended List Widget for Fedora Interface in Hydra
● Explore use of ontology frameworks (LD4L, VIVO, PCDM, etc)
Next Steps and Opportunities
Full Implementation Phase (Begin 2017)
● Bring in more partners● User Interfaces: Hydra, VIVO, and SHARE● More Feature Complete User Interfaces:
○ Research Lifecycle activity○ Recommended Items○ Enhanced Search Results
● Additional User Interface Components:○ Lifecycle Event Dashboards○ Navigation of Related List Infrastructure
Fedora, VIVO, SHARE
● Infrastructure and Services: Full implementation of architecture (indexing, harvesting, ontology mapping)
