#GiveChurchAShot with Wynwood Church at SHOTS Miami Church opens new meeting space in Wynwood bar beginning January 2014  

 January 07, 2014 (Miami, Florida) – Church in a bar? It may seem like an unconventional space to many, but a group of passionate believers in Jesus Christ from Wynwood Church are meeting people right where they are. Using the slogan and hashtag “#GiveChurchAShot,” the Church has collaborated with SHOTS Miami to use the bar’s space to congregate beginning in January 2014. Wynwood Church was started by Lead Pastor Shaun W. Smith and businessman Sebastian Rusk, owner of SocialBuzzTV.com. The Church launched in July 2011, and the group has gathered in homes since its inception. The Church has been marketed through grassroots efforts led by Rusk, who stumbled upon SHOTS Miami when he was hired for an emcee gig at the bar a few months ago. He struck up a conversation with the bar’s owners, mentioned the Church’s vision and the need for a space to meet at in Wynwood and asked about the possibility of meeting at the location. Since the bar is empty Sunday mornings, all the owners agreed and have been enthusiastic supporters of the Church and the movement since. “We’ve been looking for an unconventional, commercial space to use in Wynwood for a while now, and it was definitely heaven sent that we found SHOTS Miami and the owners have been fantastic. We all agree this is the perfect spot to host our first public service. Why not #GiveChurchAShot? We're the first to do this in the area, and we’re beyond excited about being able to serve this community,” said Rusk. A former warehouse and manufacturing district of Miami, Wynwood has transitioned into one of the largest and most prominent creative communities in the United States, packed with art galleries, retail stores, bars, restaurants, cafes and creative businesses. Spurred by the Second Saturday Art Walk and the district’s prominence during Art Basel fair, Wynwood has seen unexpected growth in a relatively short period of time as it gets more attention by locals as the go-to place for alternative nightlife and live-work space. The Church is “a community of faith, hope and love becoming passionate followers of Jesus Christ loving the City and its people.” According to Pastor Smith, “the City of Miami will greatly benefit from this type of loving community. Our goal is simply to love people and share the even greater news that God loves them.
