M.G.M. MEDICAL COLLEGE & ASSOCIATED HOSPITALS SOCIETY

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore is one of the oldest and

most prestigious institutions of Medical Sciences in India having high traditions in

teaching, training & researches in various medical specialties for the past 67 years.

The glorious history of the college dates back to the period of King Edwards

Medical School, which was later on, renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, Medical

College. The college includes reputed institutions like Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital,

Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya (Children's Hospital) & Research Center, Government

Cancer Hospital, Government Dental College & College of Nursing. In the year 1997 the

Department of Physiotherapy was established and till date 15 batches have successfully

passed Bachelor of Physiotherapy Degree Course.

Our institution is afliated to Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur. In

the year 2012 we have also started Post Graduate Course in four major Physiotherapy

Branches i.e. MPT Orthopaedics, MPT Neurology, MPT Sports & MPT Cardiothoracic.

Physiotherapy is an essential allied health science branch without which the

modern medical science can't keep pace ahead. After any Impairment and Dysfunction

related to Orthopaedics, Neurology and Cardiorespiratory nature physiotherapy is an

integral part of the treatment; and this therapy is also of paramount importance in Sports

injury and tness.

The college grooms its students with the best facilities for their overall

development. It has a well established and one of the best Library in the state.

Physiotherapy Department has also good number of patients for adequate clinical

exposure to the students.

In our institution good infrastructure, expertise services, best academic activities

and congenial atmosphere is available with dedicated and experience faculties. On one

hand institute is imparting quality training and teaching to the students and on the other

hand working in the eld of Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation. We are committed to

provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to rural and urban population of the

state.

The past track record of the college is outstanding with many of our alumni

occupying good positions both in India and abroad.stWe welcome the 21 Batch of our institution and wish them a bright future in the eld of

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS FOR BACHELOR OF PHYSIOTHERAPY COURSE

1. Eligibility:

A. A candidate seeking admission to the course must have passed Higher Secondary School Certicate

Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University with Physics,

Chemistry and Biology subjects. The CBSE pass student will be treated at par with other students.

B. A candidate should be domicile of M.P. State. Candidate must have at least 50% marks in Physics,

Chemistry & Biology (PCB) of 10+2 Examination in General Category and 45% marks in ST/SC/OBC

Category. In case of vacancy, candidates from the other states will be considered on merit basis category

wise.

C. Medical Fitness – Medical tness certicate should be furnished at the time of admission from recognized

medical practitioner approved by the State Council.

D. Age limit – No candidate shall be admitted to this course unless he/she has completed the age of 17 years ston or before 31 December of the Admission Year.

(Explanation : For reckoning the age as aforesaid, the date of birth as mentioned in the certicate of Higher

Secondary School Certicate Examination or in the mark-sheet of the said examination shall be deemed to

be authentic and no other documentary proof, except in the following eventuality, in support of age shall be

entertained. In case a candidate, who otherwise satises the domicile requirement and who on account of

being with his/her parents in a foreign country, passes an examination abroad, certied by the school

Education Department of the State Government as equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Certicate

Examination in Madhya Pradesh, adequate alternative documentary proof to the satisfaction of the

admitting authority will be entertained.)

2. Mode of Selection –

a) The selection for the course will be done on merit basis of the marks obtained in qualifying examination

Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in

Physics, Chemistry and Biology only.

b) In case of equal mark in merit list, preference will be given to the elder in age.

c) Gap certicates, if any, will have to be attached with the admission form.

d) If the applicants have secured same marks, the preference will be given to the candidate having more marks

in subjects with following order Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

e) Original documents of the admitted candidates will be retained in the institute and will be returned only

after the completion of the course, on production of no dues certicate.

3. Counseling -

a) Counseling shall be done on merit-cum-option basis according to the category in the following sequence.

i) ST Category ii) SC Category iii) OBC Category iv) Unreserved Category.

b) In case eligible candidates to the extent of reservations in any category are not available, the vacant seats

shall be lled up by making then available in other categories as given below

i) The vacant seats of ST Category shall be lled up by the eligible SC Category candidates.

ii) The vacant seats of SC Category shall be lled up by eligible ST Category candidates.

iii) In case the eligible candidates to the extent or reservation in ST and SC categories are not available,

the vacant seats shall be lled up by eligible OBC category candidates.

iv) In case the eligible candidates are not available in these above three reserved categories in the above

manner, the vacant seats shall then be lled up by the eligible unreserved category candidates.

c) If eligible candidates are not available for admission on vacant seats in MP (Military Personnel), FF

(Freedom Fighter), category, such vacant seats shall be converted in to seats of unreserved category.

4. Distribution of Seats :

a) In BPT degree course distribution of total available 50 seats, distribution will be as per MP state Govt.

rules:- 20% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST), 16% seats are reserved

for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), and 14% seats are reserved for candidates belonging

to other Backward Classes (OBC) other than creamy layer of other Backward Classes (OBC) of Madhya

Pradesh or as amended from time to time.

b) The candidate claiming to be a candidate belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Scheduled Caste (SC)/

Other Backward Classes (OBC) category of Madhya Pradesh shall have to attach a valid certied copy

of certicate issued by the competent authority of Government of Madhya Pradesh with the

application form and the permanent original caste certicate have to produced at the time of

counseling. The caste certicate should bear issue No., Dispatch no., Date and Seal of the issuing ofcer

else it will not be accepted. He/she will not be eligible for reservation if fails to produce the permanent

caste certicate. The sole responsibility will be of the candidate.

c) Reservation for women (girls) candidates shall be 30% according to merit cum option in each

category.

d) For physically handicapped candidates who are bonade resident of Madhya Pradesh and who

belong to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe/Other Backward Classes and Unreserved Category, 3%

seats will be reserved for admission in BPT course at a time of counseling. (As per MP State Govt.

reservation rules the PHC reservation's allocation will make horizontally in different categories). The

seats shall be lled rst by candidate with loco motor disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70%

provided that in case seat remained unlled on account of unavailability of candidate with loco motor

disability of lower limb between 50% to 70% and then any such unlled seat shall be lled by candidate

with locomotor disability of lower limb between 40% to <50%.

e) In case eligible physically handicapped candidates are not available the vacant seat lled by

candidate of that category.

f) The candidate claiming admission against these seats will have to produce valid certicate, in the

prescribed form, District Medical Board and eligibility certicate from Superintendent Vocational

Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Handicapped, Govt. of India, Ministry of labour, Napier town,

Jabalpur. Both the certicates are necessarily to be presented in original, non production of both the

certicates at the time of counseling will disqualify a candidate for admission. The eligibility certicate

should not have been issued more than three months before the date of counseling. Following

disabilities are not eligible for admission in BPT course:- 1. Upper limb handicapped 2. Visual

handicapped 3. Hearing handicapped 4. Lower limb more than 70% handicapped.

(C) i) All fees and privileges will be forfeited if a student is dismissed for bad conduct or any other reason or if he/she

leaves before the completion of the course.

ii) The student have to furnish a Bank Guarantee (Seat Leaving Bond) to the Dean & CEO, MGM Medical College,

Indore Rs. 1,50,000/- (In words : Rs. One Lakh fty Thousand) at the time of admission. Stating that candidate

have to pay the bond amount, if they leave in between or prior to completion of course.

(D) The students will have to pay the Tuition & Other fees before commencing of next academic session. If the student fails

to deposit the college fees in the schedule time, late fees @Rs. 20/- per day will be charged.

(E) The student may be levied other fees for Computer, Stationery, Games and Sports, Magazine Fee etc. from time to time,

if necessary.

(F) FEES – The students who fails in any academic year have to take Supplementary exam and have to pay exam fee to the

University. In between years, if the students failed and the tenure extends more than fours years then the students has

to pay all applicable fees for the extended period including examination Fees.

6. Cancellation of Admission –

(A) If it is found that a candidate has succeeded in getting admission in the Institution on the basis of false or

incorrect information or by hiding relevant facts or at any time after the admission, it is found that the admission

was given to a candidate due to some mistake or oversight, the admission granted to such candidate shall be

liable to cancellation forth with/without any notice at any time during the course of his/her studies by the Head

of the institution. In case of disputes or doubts concerning admission etc. decision of the Head of the Institution

shall be nal.

(B) If a candidate unauthorizly and without information remain absent continuously 30 (thirty) days than

his/her admission will be treated as cancelled automatically. This period of absence will not be adjusted

against any of the permitted leave to the candidates.

(C) Candidates have to give his or her joining report once admitted in the BPT course within 10 days of counseling,

failing which admission is liable to be cancelled. For extension on valid ground, application should be submitted

to the Ofcer Incharge in writing to obtain permission for joining late.

(D) Any student taking part in any kind of anti-social activities, taking part in any kind of misconduct either inside

or outside the institute premises, unauthorized absence from attending classes, taking part in un-academic

activities, ragging etc. will be liable for rustication/expulsion.

(E) The head of the Institution reserve the right to refuse admission/registration at his own discretion of any

student in the beginning of any academic semester, for reason of his/her behaving in a manner subversive to

discipline or any grave misconduct.

(F) Cancellation of the admission by the candidate : Admitted candidate desired to leave his/ her seat will have to

submit his/her application in all respect with reason to the Dean & CEO, MGM Medical College, Indore through

Ofcer Incharge, Physiotherapy alongwith Self attested copy of Fees receipt, Receipt of Seat Leaving bond

payment receipt and then only such an application for cancellation of admission would be consider. Admission

cancellation letter would be issued by Dean & CEO, MGM Medical College, Indore and after receiving such

letter the original documents submitted at the time of admission would be issued to the concern

student/Guardian authorized by the student.

7. Documents Verication Process : If deemed necessary due verication of documents submitted by the candidate at

the time of admission would be done for Caste Certicate, Mark sheets, Domicile and other certicates. It would be

done by sending them to the concern department or institution, for which the documents verication charges would

be applicable to the candidate.

8. Accommodation Facilities: Limited Hostel facility is available for girls only (on rst come rst serve basis). No hostel

facility is available for boys at present. Boys are expected to make their own boarding and lodging arrangements.

9. Academic rules:

(A) Students are required to attend all the lectures, practical and tests etc. conducted in the academic session. A

student is required to attend a minimum of 75% in theory and 80% in practical of the scheduled classes. For this

purpose, attendance in theory and practical classes will be counted separately.

(B) The Dean & CEO of the college may condone the shortage of attendance up to 5% only on valid ground.

(C) The students failing to fulll the required attendance for the full period of one academic session (theory and

practical) will not be eligible to appear in the annual University Examination in theory and practical.

(D) All students should check the percentage of their attendance from time to time and parents/guardians should

also keep a watch in regard to the percentage of attendance of their sons/daughter/wards and progress in

studies.

(E) Transfer & Migration certicates should be submitted in original at the time of admission along with University

enrollment form, failing to which admission will not be given to the candidate. Documents shall be retained by

the college and shall be returned only after the completion of the course by the candidate; and after submitting

the NO DUES certicates from the Accounts Section, Library, Games, Laboratory Section and other relevant

sections.

(F) The course of Bachelor of Physiotherapy is of 4½ years, including six months duration of compulsory

Internship. Total internship period will be compulsory in this institute.

(G) Educational Tour: This will be arranged in few reputed centers of the country for teaching & training. Students

will pay for their lodging, boarding, rail fare and other expenses for this tour. This will be compulsory for all nal

year students.

(H) On successful completion of the course, the candidates will be awarded the Degree of B.P.Th. (Bachelor of

Physiotherapy) by Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur (M.P.)

(I) Rules and regulations of Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur (M.P.) will be applicable to the

students for examination and completion of BPT Degree.

(J) As per Madhya Pradesh Sah-Chikitsiy Parishad Adhiniyam 2000, after completion of the course, candidate have
