Metal free shoesYou will fi nd the combination between metal free toe caps and metal free nail protection in the MOVE, ENERGY, FIT and FLEX collections. If you want to avoid metal completely, you should choose footwear without Boa®, as the Boa® system is based on a wire system of stainless steel.

Also remember!… to choose your socks carefully. The socks have to be moisture wicking, so you won’t get wet feet. Wet feet quickly become cold feet. Your socks may also need to be extra insulating if you work in cold environments.

No more cold feetMetal conducts heat and cold. In safety footwear with steel nail protection and metal toe caps, your feet, and especially your toes, can become uncomfortably cold when working in cold environments. With metal free shoes, you avoid this as your feet aren’t exposed to additional cold or heat from the surroundings. The nail protection is made of a thick textile material that protects your feet against sharp impacts from below, just as with steel nail protection. The toe cap is made of a composite; a more lightweight material than steel. The composite toe cap also off ers you certifi ed protection against pressure – just as steel toe caps.

Slip resistanceIt is crucial for your safety to have slip resistant footwear. SizesMASCOT’s sizes are average compared to the usual shoe sizes. If you normally use size 42, then a size 42 is likely to be correct in MASCOT’s safety footwear. MASCOT carries shoes in sizes 35-48. We recommend, however, that you try on the shoes before you buy them, as you need to take into account how wide your shoes should be.

WidthsNot everyone’s feet are the same width, and therefore you can choose between diff erent widths in MASCOT’s footwear assortment. Width 11 is the normal width that fi ts the majority of men. If you have a slightly smaller foot, you should take a closer look at the MOVE, ENERGY and FLEX collections, where you will fi nd safety shoes and safety boot in width 10. Most women fi t width 8, and therefore MASCOT also carry a number of shoes in width 8. These shoes come in smaller sizes, size 35-41. Safety footwear should fi t right away.

Socks must manage moistureYour feet exude moisture. The socks’ job is to manage the moisture so your feet do not feel wet and thereby get cold. Socks made from synthetic materials are good at transporting sweat away and drying quickly. If moisture can leave the shoe quickly, synthetic materials are a good choice.

Socks should regulate heatSocks with wool content are usually thicker and thereby warmer. Wool also has impressive moisture and temperature-regulating properties. Wool can absorb a lot of moisture, and as a result of the wool’s water-repellent surface, it will not feel wet against the skin. Wool even retains temperature-regulating properties, even when wet. Thick socks will also usually relieve pressure on the sole of the feet.

Choose the correct sizeWhen you choose footwear, you usually ensure that there is a lot of room. When you choose socks, you should do the opposite. A good work sock should fi t the foot tightly, and hug the foot snugly with elastic materials. It is almost better to choose a sock that is a little too small than one that is too big. That is because socks that fi t loosely crease, and can give you blisters. Remember when choosing, thick socks have a tendency to become a little looser that thin socks.

Good advice for choice of socksWhile footwear ensures support and stability, socks provide good comfort for skin and feet. The most important tasks for socks are to regulate heat, manage moisture and ensure that the feet are comfortable in the footwear. Comfort is paramount when you are wearing work socks for 10 - 12 hours a day.
