History of Football• Football started being seen played in America
in colleges in the earlier part of the 19th century.
• when football began it looked like rugby but Walter Camp who is considered the father of football introduced the line of scrimmage and the down and distance.
Walter Camp• played football in the US• his football career ended in 1882• he began coaching in 1888 and ended in 1895• his record as a coach was (79–5–3)• Most of his coaching career was spent in Yale
John Heisman• played football, baseball, and basketball in the
US• his football career ended in 1891• he began coaching in 1892 and ended in 1927• his record was 186-70-18 (186-70-18)
Types of Football• NFL• College• Sprint
NFL• NFL stands for national football league • the NFL is the highest form of football in
American the avg. pay is any where for $1 million to $2million now this is only for 1 season of football and the players can be signed for a lot of years
College • college football is where the NFL get most of
the players but they have there own season which end with there own bowl games like the rose bowl and the fiesta bowl etc.
• a high percentage does not go on to the NFL but most players go for an education you could say going on to the NFL is a bonus
Sprint Football• Teams: Army, Cornell, Princeton, and Penn• CSFL (Collegiate Sprint Football League) rules– 172-pound weigh-ins four days before game– Body fat and urine are tested in the preseason.
