Avoid these plastics like the plague!!!
Plastics #3 and #6 Where theyre found: Condiment bottles,
shampoo bottles, cooking oil bottles, Meat trays, egg cartons, carry-out containers, aspirin bottles, disposable cups. Why theyre bad: Known to release
phthalates and styrenes into food and drinks. Number 6 plastics have also become notorious for being one of the most difficult plastics to recycle.
Plastic #7 Where its found: No. 7 is a catch-all for
various types of plastics, including those found in baby bottles, three- and five-gallon water bottles, 'bullet-proof' materials, sunglasses, DVDs, iPod and computer cases, signs and displays, certain food containers and nylon Why its bad: Number 7 plastics are made up
of various resins; some contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a synthetic estrogen that could disrupt the human hormone system, causing various health effects.
The Hidden Costs of Plastics 300 million tons of crude oil are used to manufacture
the plastics we use on an annual basis.
Plastics, Plastics Everywhere What am I to do? In addition to avoiding plastics, 3, 6, & 7 Look for minimally packages products.
Buy products packaged in glass. Buy/make and use cloth napkins. Use reusable grocery bags. Recycle all the plastics you can!
