Every year in Illinois, businesses pay millions of dollars to haul food scraps to a landfill. That material could just as easily go to a compost facility...except it’s currently way more expensive, and compost facilities are few and far between.

The Illinois Food Scrap Coalition wants to change that. And they need your help! If your business or organization...

• Creates food scraps (restaurants, hotels, hospitals and other large businesses)

• Hauls food scraps (any waste haulers, large or small)• Composts food scraps (commercial compost facilities) • Uses finished compost (municipalities, government

agencies, landscape companies and more)• Wants to learn about possible grant funds to implement

food scrap diversion

...please consider attending this upcoming Stakeholder Forum to share your ideas, experiences and challenges. We need your boots-on-the-ground, every day experiences and input to help us develop solutions that will work. This is one of five Food Scrap Composting Challenges and Solutions in Illinois Stakeholder Forums that will help to advance commercial food scrap composting across the state.
