SENWES GRAINLINK FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT POLICY 1 Charl de Klerk Street, Klerksdorp We, the management of SENWES GRAINLINK, are committed to the planning, implementation, maintenance, review and continuous improvement of our Food Safety and Quality Management System, which is based on the supply of all grain and oilseeds being compliant with all relevant South African legislation including but not limited to the following: Agricultural Product Standards Act, 1990 (Act No. 119 of 1990) Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act, 1972 (Act No. 54 of 1972) The Agricultural Pest Act, 1983 (Act No. 36 of 1983) Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947 (Act No. 36 of 1947) • Genetically Modied Organisms Act, 1997 (Act No. 15 of 1997) SENWES GRAINLINK silos comply with the Food Hygiene and Food Safety Standards issued under the Agricultural Product Standards Act, 1990 (Act No. 119 of 1990) - as stipulated under section 4(3)(a)(ii) of the Agricultural Product Standards Act 119 of 1990, and promulgated in notice R707 of 13 May 2005 and are registered with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisher- ies as Food Business Operator (FBO). Each registered establishment is allocated a unique FBO code and is audited according to a 3-year cycle. SENWES Grainlink applies hygienic practices to: provide whole grain and oilseeds which are safe and suitable for consumption; protect grain from contamination and growth/survival of relevant pathogens by storing, handling and preparing it correctly; and ensure that consumers have clear and easily-understood information, by way of labeling and other appropriate means; • maintain condence in locally and internationally traded whole grain and oilseeds. We, the management of SENWES GRAINLINK, are therefore committed to the following: Meeting our customers’ expectations Providing safe food and animal feed products and associated services through appropriate handling and storage of all grain and oilseeds. Responsible sourcing by taking into account social and environmental considerations when managing relationships with pro- ducers as an integral part of managing the chain of supplies from where they are produced to where they are used. Leading by professional example to suppliers and customers Continually training and developing our people Supplying products of consistent and excellent quality Maintaining all grading equipment in excellent condition by regular servicing, maintenance and calibration Ensuring quality and food safety by conducting annual harvest quality analyses Employing accurate records regarding systems, both administrative and laboratory, to test products and keep it safe so as to ensure the buyer/ processor that the product is not unsafe, defective or hazardous Provide a safe and healthy work environment • Establishing mutually benecial partnerships with producers and customers Working together with partners in various elds, we help to identify and encourage the adoption of responsible and sustainable practices in the grain supply chain Promoting food safety and quality objectives throughout the organisation Maintain and improve our food hygiene and food safety standards and procedures in terms of adequacy, suitability and effectiveness In addition, we are committed to continuous compliance with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 which came into effect on 31 March 2011.
