SCHOOL PANTRY PROGRAM

First piloted in late 2014, the School Pantry Program was an alternative for BackPack Program partners who were looking to increase their service numbers and stretch their budget. The program has grown to include five schools in our 16 county service area with more than 111,400 meals provided in fiscal year 2017.

Currently, there are no school pantries in Fountain County. For information about starting one, please contact the food bank.

MOBILE PANTRY OUTREACHThe Food Finders Mobile Pantry Outreach Program takes a truckload of food out across its 16 county service area to efficiently reach the people that need it most while supplementing the work of other hunger relief agencies. The truck is filled with fresh produce, meat, baked goods and a variety of other items.

Mobile Pantry events are sponsored by area organizations and businesses in cooperation with Food Finders. Each distribution provides at least 5,000 pounds of food, ensuring 140 households leave with 30-40 pounds of food.

In 2017, Food Finders provided more than 75,510 pounds of food to Fountain County through the Mobile Pantry Outreach program.

SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAMFood Finders’ Summer Feeding Program provides meals and groceries to children during summer break. The meals are served on site in low-income neighborhoods and community locations. In 2018, more than 21,000 meals and snacks were served in communities spanning seven counties.

In 2017, Food Finders hosted 3 sites and served nearly 3,224 pounds of food in Fountain County through the Summer Food Service Program.

SNAP OUTREACH PROGRAMThe SNAP Outreach Program sends Food Finders’ outreach coordinators to strategic community centers, faith-based organizations, and residential housing facilities to help eligible Hoosiers sign up for SNAP benefits. Our outreach coordinators aim to make the process as easy as possible, helping individuals to complete applications, gather the necessary documentation, submit materials and assist with recertification.
