(1 Peter 2:21) For to this you were

called, because Christ also

suffered for us, leaving us an

example, that you should follow His

steps:

1. We Must Die To Sin (1 Pet. 2:24)


(1 Peter 2:24) who Himself bore

our sins in His own body on the

tree, that we, having died to sins, might live

for righteousness--by whose stripes

you were healed.

Be Dead to Sin, Living For

Righteousness!

(1 Peter 2:1-2) Therefore, laying aside all malice,

all deceit, hypocrisy, envy,

and all evil speaking, as

newborn babes, desire the pure

milk of the word, that you may grow

thereby,

Leaving Sin Behind Us…


(1 Peter 2:25) For you were

like sheep going astray, but have now

returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

(John 4:30-34) Then they went out of the city and came

to Him. In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." But He

said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." Therefore the

disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?" Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to

finish His work.

Hungering For God’s Word

We Might Grow to Do His Work (1 Pet. 2:2)3. We Must Become Useful In Service to the

Master (1 Pet. 2:4-5)


(1 Peter 2:4-5) Coming to Him as to a living

stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God

and precious, you also, as living stones, are being

built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up

spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through

Jesus Christ.

Become A Useful Tool For the Master

(1 Peter 2:9) But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may

proclaim the praises of Him who called you out

of darkness into His marvelous light;




(1 Peter 2:7) Therefore, to you who believe, He is

precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected Has

become the chief cornerstone,"




(1 Peter 2:11-12) Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and

pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct

honorable among the Gentiles, that when they

speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your

good works which they observe, glorify God in the

day of visitation.







4. We Must Conduct Ourselves In An Orderly Manner In This World (1 Pet.

2:13-17)

.


(1 Peter 2:13-17) Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake,

whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the

will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men-- as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

(Matthew 27:12-14) And while He was being accused by

the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?" But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.




(Matthew 16:21-23) From that time Jesus began to show

to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many

things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it

from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind

Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of

men."

(1 Pet. 2:23) He “committed Himself to Him who

judges righteously”




• This is how Peter and John rejoiced, being found worthy to suffer shame for Christ (Ac. 5:41)

• This is how Paul and Silas could sing in a jail cell at midnight (Ac. 16:25)

• It is how Paul could write “Rejoice always” (1 Thess. 5:16) and mean it.
