Communities of Faith Working Together to End Hunger event is coming
soon. Whether youre new to the work of advocacy or a seasoned veteran, we
welcome you. Come learn, network, and take action steps to end hunger now.
The focus this year will be on childhood hunger and income inequality.
April 9th, 7-9 pm. There will be an optional soup dinner from 6-7pm. Please
RSVP if you plan to attend. Please let us know if you will be joining the soup

scholarship. This years confer-
ence will feature advocacy train-
ing and education about work to
promote justice and peace in our
communities on a local, national,
and international level.
Dr. Shah, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health
visited the Breakfast Program on Tuesday morning. The commissioner
visited with guests, toured the soup kitchen and interfaith food pantry.
Advocates spoke with the commissioner about the issue of hunger in
our community and the benefit of improved access to nutritious food.

5. The Living Compassion Workshop: Update
Dr. Shah also visited the
FOCUS Interfaith FoodPantry and spoke with
manager Lorraine Houk.
The Living Compassion Workshop series onnonviolent communication has been pushedforward one week. The first evening of theworkshop scheduled for this past Wednes-day night was cancelled due to the weather,but will kickoff next Wednesday, March 19.
The workshop dates are:

March 12, FOCUS joined Hun-
ger Action Network and advo-
cates from all over New York
State in the ES2. A coalition of
over 200 organizations with a
shared mission to end income
inequality in New York State by
improving access to education,
food, affordable housing, living
wages, and a more fair and just
tax structure in New York.
