F&G is delighted to introduce a family of fanciful miniature mice, handcrafted in the USA by the Petersen

family since 1972. Annette Petersen crafted her first little mouse nearly four decades ago, and today is joined in the wee mouse world by Annette, Willy and Donna, the next generation of Petersens. They describe their creative process this way. "We make the mold, cast it, and a little mouse begins to emerge. Meticulous hand-painting and an enormous amount of patience and time brings each sculpture to life". All of the Wee Forest Folks are hand-crafted entirely in the small town of Carlisle in eastern Massachusetts.

A HOME OF THEIR OWN FOR THE WEE FOREST FOLKSThe delightful wooden box was originally designed by the Petersen’s to display their Wee Forest Folks at shows. But soon they found that collectors were also clamoring to own the box so they could showcase their own little family of mice, and keep them safe at the same time. Utilizing the Scottish Highland folktales of his maternal ancestry, a then unknown Canadian artist named Palmer Cox created a group of playful sprites known as the Brownies that he introduced to the world in February of 1883 in St. Nicholas Magazine. Palmer Cox now finds his works immortalized by the contemporary great R John Wright.

It was more than three decades ago

when Ute Bittl of Munich, Germany

discovered the treasured little world of

dollhouses and the objects and people

that live within. Her little homes within

a big house (her own, in a beautiful

wooded park in Munich) came to fill an

entire room, and then spread into every

other nook of her big home. And along

the way, came dolls, hundreds of them,

some small enough for the doll houses,

and those larger, displayed alongside

the doll rooms and houses in a magical

childhood scene.

These treasures, as well as other

wonderful rarities from European and

American private collectors are to be

auctioned in a 350 lot Marquis auction,

aptly titled “Home at Last.” Treasures

include splendid French bébés from

makers ranging from Bru to Schmitt

to Steiner to Jumeau to Mothereau, as

well as rare early 19th century sculpted

hair lady dolls of porcelain and bisque,

choice mignonettes and other all-bisque

rarities, cloth dolls from Kathe Kruse

to Lenci, and other specialties such as

Kewpies, Automata, Door of Hope and

rare German bisque characters.
