Floral Visions

This quilt is embroidered with my Bernina 830 sewing

machine. Each block takes about 4 hours to embroider.

The center block had five hoopings, so it was about 12

hours total embroidery time. These quilts are a labor of

love. Machine pieced. Machine appliquéd. Machine

quilted.

Kat Nap

I LOVE CATS! The pattern and fabric packet were given to

me as a birthday gift. Making this quilt was easy, fun and

just enough appliqué to make it interesting. I quilted this

quilt on my HQ16. Making cat quilts is one way to enjoy

MANY cats WITHOUT the cat box. Machine pieced. Hand

My First Shop Hop - 2009

My first Shop Hop was a fun and exciting adventure. My

two little ones and a very patient Theodora (and

sometimes patient au pair, Lisa) were partners in crime!

What an amazing learning curve! Thank you to all the

stores and most especially, Theodora, my driver; I had no

idea how addictive this event would become! Machine

Thoroughly Modern Thirties

I wanted to use some of my collection of vintage blocks

and scraps. Instead of using the traditional white

background and placement, I decided to use my 'cheddar'

for the center and float the appliquéd blocks. The red

sashing and binding is the only contemporary fabric. I

chose to be untraditional in the quilting as well. Hand and

machine pieced. Hand appliquéd. Machine quilted.

Midnight Flight

I enjoyed the new experience of piecing using the

embroidery machine. I love bright colors and had fun

choosing the different fabrics and threads for the appliqué

and embroidery. I envisioned the quilt with more

embellishing and so added more quilting on the longarm

and added crystals and beads. Machine pieced. Machine

appliquéd. Machine quilted.

2009 Shop Hop Sampler

Third Base, aka Hydrangea

Growing up in Kansas City, MO, our backyard was a big

play space. For kickball, first base was a lilac bush cluster,

and the hydrangea was third base. I know my mother

shuddered every time that bush was trampled. Somehow it

survived. This fabric line brought that memory to life for

me. Fabric yo-yos brought out individual blossoms.

Twisted Ribbon Around the Axis

Blooming Bright

Robertson Rhapsody

After reading Ricky Tims' Rhapsody Quilts, I decided to

use some of the techniques in that book to design a quilt to

showcase the hand-dyed fabrics I had purchased from

Judy Robertson. I cut out the pieces for the project a

couple of years ago, but I didn't complete the quilt until I

acquired a sewing machine that could make a double

buttonhole stitch for the edges of the pieces. Machine

Squares and Leaves

my husband Ron's new recliner chair. As it evolved and

became more decorated with embroidery, frequent

washing of this project was no longer an option. This

project became a wall hanging to hang beside Ron's chair,

Solitary Silhouette

Firework Sensations

Illusions of zig-zag streaks of light are sheer stitched

across the background squares. Colorful metallic and

rayon threads are free-motion stitched over tulle, giving

Yo-Buttons

I am a collector of buttons, and I saw this quilt at a show

and thought, "I can do that!" The best part of this project

was the sorting of all my buttons, and now I have 125 jars

displayed so pretty. Another nice thing besides a finished

Bugs in a Box

I decided to embroider all these bugs, and then I didn't

know what to do with them. So I decided to make a quilt.

It is a mess, but it is my very first one. This is where it all
