ABANDONED ALCOHOL ALIENAMERICAN BENJAMIN BRIGGSEXPLOSION IDOL LIFEBOATMONOPOLY MOREHOUSE PIRATES

After sailing the Mary Celeste safely to shore in Genoa, proclaiming the strange tale of the vanished crew and their own plight to rescue the ship, the crew of the Dei Gratia could claim the cargo as their own and sell it for their own profit.

The evidence discovered on the Mary Celeste can coincide with this theory: 1) No sign of foul play: Burning the drunk, unconscious victims would leave no blood stains or signs of struggle.

2) Empty barrels of alcohol with no sign of leakage(Helium, p. 1): The attackers could have easily re-corked the barrels after emptying them and burning their contents

3) No soot residue or burn marks on the deck: Pure alcohol burns clean and leaves no marks, eliminating any evidence that it has been lit on fire (Harris, par. 13).

4) A cut and frayed rope tied to the Mary Celeste (articlebase, par.11): This could have been attached to the lifeboat while the Dei Gratia crew watched and made sure the flames consumed all traces of the crew. They would have cut the rope before the flames spread back to the main boat, allowing the flaming boat to float away and eventually sink.

For these reasons and the fact that a large amount of money was collected for the barrels of alcohol leads this reporter to suspect the crew of the Dei Gratia. Rather than be quick to applaud their actions, they should be questioned and the vessel known as the Mary Celeste should be further examined for evidence of foul play.
