About Flinders Ranges OdysseysOur company operates luxury, personalised, fully guided 4x4 nature, wildlife and food and wine experiences on Kangaroo Island and we are now proud to introduce our new 4 Day / 3 Night Flinders Ranges Outback Tour.

This new tour delves into the history, culture and beauty of the Flinders Ranges, one of the oldest surviving environments in the world (over 800 million years old).

You’ll spend two glorious nights at the award-winning Rawnsley Park Station and one night at the renowned Prairie Hotel.

Along the way you’ll visit Kanyaka Station Homestead Ruins, enjoy station tours and walks, travel through picturesque gorges, and famous Wilpena Pound and learn about the Ediacaran period at Nilpena Station.

Also, throughout the tour you’ll be spoilt with amazing dining experiences, matched with local wines and on the way back to Adelaide we’ll stop in the charmingly secluded Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions.

Blinman Historic and picturesque Blinman is the highest town in South Australia. The town began with the discovery of copper in 1859 and today is a popular visitor attraction with tours available below ground. Your guide can arrange a Blinman Copper Mine Tour for you (at extra cost).

Daybreak Loop Walk While staying at Rawnsley Park Station, discover the unique flora and wildlife in the foothills of Rawnsley Bluff with your experienced guide. This easy three-kilometre walk shows you how the ancient sea-floor has been uplifted and eroded to create this amazing landscape.

Sunset on the Chace Tour Watch a brilliant Flinders Ranges sunset overlooking the stunning Chace Range, whilst enjoying a glass of sparkling wine and gourmet canapes with Wilpena Pound providing a stunning backdrop. The tour drives through Rawnsley Park Station providing a great opportunity to see native wildlife in its natural habitat.

Lamb Tasting DinnerA special treat during your stay at Rawnsley Park will the 3-course Lamb Tasting Dinner which showcases lamb direct from the property, and prepared in three different and delicious courses. Clare Valley wines will be matched with each course.

Kanyaka Station Homestead RuinsLearn about South Australia’s early settlers at Kanyaka Station which was once a thriving and successful sheep and cattle station amassing 945 sq kms and employing and housing about 70 families.

Nilpena Station Enjoy a private tour of a working sheep and cattle station with its scenic ranges, magnificent sand dunes, vast salt lake and world-renowned Ediacara fossil reserves, where over 540 million years ago, before dinosaurs, the warm seas that covered the land were inhabited by soft-bodied organisms, similar to jellyfish.

Paulett Wines & Bush Devine Café Paulett’s famed cellar door with its magnificent views, has become even better with the official opening of its ‘Bush Devine Café’ with much of its produce sourced from the adjacent Bush Food Garden with over 80 different species and 1000 plants.

Prairie HotelThe Prairie Hotel, an oasis on the cusp of the rugged Flinders Ranges is famous as one of Australia’s finest outback pubs. The restaurant is equally renowned, especially for its gourmet platters of ‘Feral Food’. Step into a haven of character, creature comforts, country hospitality and great food.

Rawnsley Park StationOverlooking the southern side of Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley Park Station provides the perfect base for exploring South Australia’s beautiful Flinders Ranges. Choose from one or two bedroom luxury eco-villas tucked away in secluded spots with breathtaking views, or the self-contained holiday units set at the foot of Rawnsley Bluff.

Wilpena PoundWilpena Pound is a natural amphitheatre of mountains in the heart of the Flinders Ranges and traverses some of the most beautiful country in the Flinders Ranges. The ‘Pound’ is very popular with bushwalkers and hikers with all levels of experience. A scenic flight over the ‘Pound’ is spectacular and your guide can arrange one for you (at extra cost).
