Page 4: Flight plan: The Real Secret of Success

In the introduction of Flight Plan, the author relays that during the course of the average flight the plane will be off course for 99% of the time. The pilots are constantly doing course corrections and adapting as needed for the conditions so that the flight will make it safely to its destination on time. It’s a sobering fact that relates well to business.

No matter how hard we try, we will find ourselves faced with challenges that need to be addressed. The longer we ignore or deny the problems, the more trouble that we make for ourselves in the end. Therefore, it is imperative that we are willing to admit our mistakes, make the appropriate course corrections, and keep our destination in focus.

Flight Plan looks at the reality of business. It’s so easy to get caught up in denial or blame when challenges arise. Yet, inevitably such things will occur. It’s far more productive to just get on with the process.

INTRODUCTION

Page 5: Flight plan: The Real Secret of Success

In "Flight Plan," Brian Tracy reveals the real key ingredients that go into accomplishing any long-term, meaningful success. Using the metaphor of an airplane trip from coast to coast, Flight Plan shows that the real secret to success is to first figure out your destination -- where you want to go -- and lock in on it. Second, you must take off--identify precisely what you must do to achieve the goals you have set for yourself and take action. And third, you must persist through the inevitable challenges and setbacks--by making continual course corrections--until you reach your destination. Tracy observes that any airplane, headed for any destination, will be off course 99 percent of the time because of air turbulence. But, by locking in on its destination, taking off, and making continual course corrections, the plane will arrive as scheduled. The same is true of people's journey through life.

SUMMARY

Page 6: Flight plan: The Real Secret of Success

EVALUATIONBrian Tracy says this book picks up where "The Secret" leaves off.

That one tells you to think it. This one tells you how to make it happen. He has some great guidance on setting goals, and realistic advice on how hard it can be. He takes the whole idea of getting a flight off the ground and to its intended destination, and compares

that to success in whatever it is you are trying to do. Planning, Starting, Adjusting as you go, Perseverance.

think every young star who are looking for a fresh perspective on

goal setting, planning and achievement, this is the resource that they will definitely benefit and enjoy.
