What are Fortune’s freight terms? Minimum prepaidshipment is 300 cases.

Can I mix products to make the 300 case prepaidfreight order quantity? – Yes, you may order as littleas one case per item as long as the whole order meetsthe 300 case minimum.

What is considered a minimum order? – Minimumprepaid shipment is 300 cases but the minimum produc-tion run for custom items is 1,500 pounds for can liners,1,000 pounds on small poly bags and up to 3,000 oncustom printed items. If your custom order does notmeet the minimum for pre-paid shipment Fortune cancombine the custom run with stock items to meet thepre-paid minimum or ship pre-paid and add the freightto your invoice.

What is the difference between mic and mil? – Bothare units of measurement used to describe the thick-ness of a can liner. High density can liners are typicallymeasured in microns or the metric system and low den-sity liners are typically measured in mils or the imperialsystem.

How can I tell the difference between high densityand low density bags? – High density feels and soundscrinkly, is thinner and is very cloudy when it is clear (re-ferred to as natural). Usually sold as a natural (clear) orblack bag. Low density feels and sounds softer, is heav-ier and usually has greater clarity when it is clear. Lowdensity comes in many different colors.

What is the difference between a star seal and agusset seal or flat seal? – The star seal is a much moreeffective seal because it; creates pockets where wetwaste can sit below the seal, naturally take pressure offof the seal, and the seal is made across a much smallersurface area with the same number of layers of plastic.The gusset seal has different layers of plastic and all thepressure of the bag is carried at the seal. The flat sealalso has all the pressure of the bag carried at the sealand the seal must be maintained across a much largersurface area.

What is the case weight and how do I calculate?Linear Low: Width x Length x Mil /15 = Lbs per 1000bags x number of bags per case.High Density: Width x Length x Mic/25.4/15 = Lbs per1000 bags x number of bags per case.

If an item is listed in Fortune’s product catalog thenwhy don’t you stock it? – Most of the catalog itemsare available at each location, however due to localmarket differences there are certain items that are notpurchased in sufficient quantity across all regions tokeep them in stock. For these items you will need toallow additional lead time. If your volume justifies it wewill make it a stock item.

If I place an order today when will it ship? What areFortune’s lead times? – For stock products Fortune’slead time from order to shipment is 5 days or less. Thelead time for custom orders will vary depending on thecurrent order volume and item configuration. We willconfirm the actual lead time at the time the order isplaced. The normal lead time is two to three weeks butduring peak loads it may be as high as four to sixweeks.

Why can’t I buy direct? – Fortune is a manufacturerwho sells and delivers product in bulk to our distributorpartners. We will be happy to direct you to a FortunePlastics distributor in your area.

Can I get samples of the products that I am inter-ested in? – Yes. Please contact the customer servicedepartment in your area for specific samples.

Why do you have color coded labels? – The colorcoded labels represent different product offerings. Forexample, white labels=custom liners; yellow labels=re-cycled content and low density liners; grey=high densityliners and green=food bags.

What is the difference between Bio-Grade andComp-Lete® products? – Bio-Grade™ products havean additive that helps the plastic breakdown into inertparticulates when exposed to the elements. Comp-Lete®

can liners are 100% biodegradable and 100% com-postable and are certified by the Biodegradable Prod-ucts Institute.

Why aren’t industrial products listed in your stockcatalogue or offering? – Fortune Plastics producesthese items on a made-to-order basis with low mini-mums and fast turnaround to provide the most cost ef-fective solution for these needs.

general warranty & termsGeneral Warranty And LimitationsFortune Plastics, Inc. products are warranted to be ofmerchantable quality and to conform to specificationsand tolerances provided in the applicable industry stan-dards or covered by industry grading rules, or otherwiseincorporated in this agreement. Should any products befound not to meet the foregoing warranty, Seller will fur-nish a replacement product conforming to the warranty,or at its election, make a fair allowance therefore. How-ever, written notice of any claim under this warranteemust be given within 30 days after delivery, and Buyermust afford seller a reasonable opportunity to inspect theproducts in unaltered condition and evaluate the claim inaccordance with procedures customary in the industry.

There are no warranties which extend beyond theforegoing, and seller’s sole responsibility thereun-der is as stated. Seller shall not be liable for con-sequential, indirect or incidental damages, or forany amount in excess of the price for the shipmentinvolved, under the foregoing warranty or any otherpart of this agreement. Any legal action againstseller for breach of this agreement, including anywarranties thereunder, must be instituted withinone year after delivery.

ReturnsAny mis-shipped products can be returned within 10days of receipt.

All other returns of stock product are subject to a 15%restocking fee and will be accepted based on thelower of cost or market pricing available at the time ofthe return and must be shipped prepaid in saleablecondition.

Returns are not allowed on custom product whethermade-to-order or make and hold, except for manufac-turing defects, which must be reported within 30 daysof receipt.

Merchandise cannot be accepted for return without theissue of a return authorization number. Our customerservice department will issue a RA# and return ship-ping instructions.

Resin is the basic raw material used to manufacture can liners. The two basic types of resin utilizedtoday are high density and linear low density.

High Density Can Liners – the most economical of the basic types of plastic films. High densityliners are thinner, yet offer three times the strength of linear low liners. It also takes less raw mate-rial to produce high density liners, making it the better choice for the Environment.

Linear Low Density Can Liners – the most versatile film used to produce institutional can liners. Ithas outstanding puncture and tear resistance properties.

Pre- and Post-Consumer Resins – made from internal scrap that is a natural by-product of the manu-facturing process. Recycling scrap prevents waste from going into our landfills. Post-Consumer resinsare made from items recycled such as milk jugs, plastic films, and industrial scrap.

Gauge is a term used in the industry to describe the thickness of a can liner. Gauge is typicallystated in either mil or micron. Low density liners are measured in mills and high density liners aremeasured in microns.

Micron (mic) is a metric unit of measurement. One millionth of a meter or one thousandth of amillimeter. One micron equals .00004 of an inch. High density can liners will range from 5 to 24microns.

Mil is a measurement based on thousandth of an inch (.000). Linear Low density liners will rangefrom .30 to 2.0 mil.

Star Seal – This is the strongest, most reliable seal available. This is accomplished bygusseting the bag to the center and folding it once. The seal is then applied to theeight layers of film at the bottom creating a star shaped bottom. An added benefit isthe creation of “pockets” for liquids to pool below the seal which reduces the chancefor leaks. Dimensions are stated in two dimensions: (40x48)

Gusseted Seal – A flat style bag that has both sides tucked in to form gussets andthe bottom is sealed. The dimensions of this bag are stated in three dimensions (ex.23x17x46). Least reliable seal due to varied-layer sealing.

Flat Seal – A polyethylene tube that has been flattened and sealed across the bottom 2 layers.This provides a good seal but the bag does not conform to the container shape,creating “dog ears” that stick to the receptacle. Dimensions are stated in two di-mensions: (40x46)
