Hello Scoop Readers! We have some exciting things happening this month at the Lakes Bowls Club and with daylight savings

starting we have more day time to enjoy all the clubs facilities. On the 7th October our weekly

Tuesday Night Darts Night begins and we invite everyone regardless of level of experience to come

down and have a good laugh and throw a few darts, with a $15 meal & drink deal on the night for

players it is one that should not be missed (details page 7).

Also, we have a Courtesy Bus to pick you up and drop you home on Friday and Saturday nights

starting the 10th October, servicing Lake Tyers Beach, Kalimna and of course Lakes Entrance it makes

it very easy to come and enjoy all the club has to offer on the weekends. Details on Page 3 or see one

of the friendly staff for all terms & conditions.

If you spend a bit of time in the Bowlo you will have surely noticed the huge selection of hampers and

Weber Q’s on display for our latest Club Mix competition, each time you spend $10 or more you get a

token which can be exchanged for a raffle ticket between 5.15 - 7.15 on the 21st October and then

you go in the draw to win one of 20 prizes.

Last but not least we have our Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show on the 31st October. The reviews for this

tribute group are really good and we expect the show to sell out! Get in quickly to ensure you get a

table and can enjoy our Smorgasbord on the night!

Lakes Entrance locals Damian Witham and Clinton Daniel have recently launched a project

they hope will promote businesses in Lakes Entrance and help locals and tourists find deals

and bargains.

Deals In 3909 is a new app which local businesses can put up deals in Retail, Food and

Activity as well as a place to sell second hand products as well.

Anyone who uses the app will have access to all the deals, and all you have to do is show the

app on your smartphone.

The app is available on android and apple devices and is Free to download. With a good

variety of local businesses on board keep an eye out for deals available here at the Lakes

Entrance Bowls Club. We wish the best of luck to Clint & Damian and invite all our members

and guests to download the app.

September began with Members’ Open Nominated Triples. Greens were not quite full but some

good bowls were played. The winners on the day were Ron McKay (s), Barry Munns & Barry Wykes.

The second Wednesday of the month saw twenty eight teams, including a number of visiting

teams, on the greens for Men’s Nominated Triples. Recently retired Kevin Dowie helped his team of

Boyd McPhee & Peter Spark to a good win.

Saturday September 13th visiting and club teams were on the greens for Men’s Invitation 2 Bowl

Triples. Some excellent bowling was watched by the spectators. Mick Jurd (s), Scott Davidson & Bill

Rowley played well to claim victory for the day.

Charity Day on Sunday 21st September saw 36 bowlers enjoy games in the Versatility Format

followed by an auction of donated wrapped items. Money was also collected from fines. Over

$600.00 was raised which will be given to “Melon’s Cottage”.

The ladies held a Mixed 2 Bowl Triples Tournament on Thursday 25th

September.

Some visiting teams joined the locals for an enjoyable day. The winners on the day were

Dot Fox, Mick O’Neill & Dawn Severs.

Now that we are starting to get in the groove, Pennant will be starting - Saturday on 11th

October

and Midweek on 21st October. Good bowling to all those who have put their names down to play.

The Club Events have also started.

Club and State events will be regular occurrences from now on so keep an eye on the noticeboards

for events and closing dates.

Just a reminder – afternoon bowls will be starting at 1.00 pm from Sunday 5th

October (daylight saving starting).
