Finnerty operate an extensive fleet of construction and agricultural machinery. Our long established procedures for maintaining our fleet is managed by our Plant Manager ensuring all

s recommendations. Finnerty Plant Hire ensures compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and includes excavator height restrictors, reversing and tipping cameras. Certification for all lifting equipment is controlled by Finnerty for self drive hire contracts removing the responsibility from the contractor to guarantee the maximum service are obtained from the hire. Our range of plant machinery encompasses specialist items and accessories such as rock breakers, chisels etc. Self drive hire is further reinforced by Finnerty providing 24hr assistance and regular weekly maintenance programmes that can be tailored to specific operating times. Utilising Both GPS and ATS millimetre accurate technologies accompanied by Finnerty experience and project management techniques, guarantees our clients the highest levels of confidence and customer satisfaction.

INTRODUCTION  

Finnerty  are  a  Civil  &  Structural  Engineering  Company  based  8  miles  from  Athenry,  employing  150  staff,  operating   predominantly   in   the   North   Western   Region   of   Ireland.   The   company   was   formed   in   1973   by  Michael  Finnerty  who  operates  the  business  with  his  sons  Shane  &  Cathal  Finnerty.

SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT

Project: McInerney Homes.

Description of Works:

was clear in the tender process that large amount of stone and fill was needed on sites as hardcore to roads, raft foundations and footpaths. It was also clear that a lot of material needed to go off-site due to the rear of the site cutting into the side of a hill.

 

APPROACH

After assessing site test holes and carrying out compaction tests on the materials on site, Finnerty Plant Hire set up crusher & screening equipment and dug out the hill. The fill was first put through the screener which segregated the material into 3 areas Subsoil and 2 different size stone fill, the conveyor from the stone was fed directly into crusher which made stone fill for use on roads, driveways, paths, rafts on site after associated tests were carried out on the material.

Reduced hardcore material needed on-site

Omitted the need to transport material off-site as this material used after being crushed, screened & segregated.

Maximised recourses on site due to suitable use of machinery & materials whilst reducing cost of the Job.

Works carried out more sustainable to the environment.

Finnerty  Plant  Hire  has  the  ability  and  experience  of  working  with  machinery  and  materials  to  utilise  plant  and  resources  to  maximum  efficiency.  Finnerty  Plant  Hire  has  

the  equipment  to  improve  cost  saving  measures  to  the  client  whilst  operating  as  a  more  sustainable  construction  company.    

 

PROJECT: N6 CONSTRUCTION. DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

During the final stages of the construction of the N6 motorway, all filter drainage that runs parallel to the finish surface along the motorway needed to be topped up just before final layer of surface to road is applied. N6 construction were using rubber ducks to scoop drainage chippings from the

owed to be tipped on road surface.

APPROACH

Finnerty Plant Hire designed a hydraulic conveyor belt attached to the back of a Volvo A25 that was able to complete this task and carry out the work more efficient than the rubber duck and 8 wheeler rigid trucks.

BENEFITS

eliminated as conveyor belt was able lay spread the drainage chippings neatly.

Halved labourer costs as 1 driver needed to carried out works in opposed to 2 drivers

Reduced fuel costs significantly from operating 1 machine in opposed to 2.

Works carried out more sustainable to the environment.
