A Classic Shows One’s Colours

Le Corbusier (1887–1965) was one of the 20th century‘s most important architects. His work continues to have a major influence on architecture and form. The colour schemes of his buildings and designs were just as important to Le Corbusier as layout or design.

Inspired by the balanced colours of nature, Le Corbusier based his “Polychromie architecturale” on an intelligent and artistic choice of pigments.

He developed his unique colour system in two phases; the first in 1931, using 43 subdued shades, and the second in 1959, with 20 bold, dynamic colours. His ‘keyboard of colours” is based on the repetition of a few select fundamental colours, from which Le Corbusier then derived other shades. They are naturally harmonious, can be impressively combined, and today still show the outstanding results of Le Corbusier’s skill and experience as an architect, designer, artist and colour designer.

Le Corbusier was concerned with chromatic harmony and the effects of colour on people and on space. His unique “Polychromie architecturale” is still a major source of inspiration for designers of spaces and buildings today.

Le Corbusier‘s architectural masterpieces are shaped by a play of light, form and timeless colours, elements that always follow his strict maxim of not a being an end in themselves. Natural elements, such as vermilion and blue lapis lazuli, lend the colours a particular brilliance, highlighting the natural and the essential.

The minimalist forms of Le Corbusier‘s buildings, furniture and studies, as well as his exceptional “Polychromie architecturale”, continue to influence the world of architecture.

In appreciation of Le Corbusier‘s works and inspired by his colours, JUNG is offering a reinterpretation of its classic LS 990 range of switches in the 63 shades of Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier as a worldwide exclusive. Forty years after the launch of the LS 990 series, a classic is now showing its colours.

Classic LS 990 switches in the 63 shades of Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier’s.

Each of these colours can be harmoniously combined with any other in the system. As well as the 15 immediately available items ( ) in the LS range, you can also order switches in all the other shades of Les Couleurs®. Le Corbusier. Since production is then customised for each order, delivery times range from eight to twelve weeks.

To create the unique chromatic depth of the “Polychromie architecturale”, the switches are hand-painted using a special process, which gives them their exceptional matt surface.

What’s also impressive is the way each of these colours can be harmoniously combined with any other in the system. The Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier products shown here are available for immediate delivery.

As well as switches and sockets, rotary and touch dimmers, JUNG is also offering its KNX F 50 push-button sensors in the classic LS 990 switch design in the Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier. This means that devices for controlling room functions, such as lighting or ventilation, will be integrated into the Les Couleurs system.

The article number consists of a description of the basic item and its precise colour.

For example, a rocker for a switch or button in the LC 990 range + colour 32001 = Art. No. LC 990 32001

You can order these from a specialist electronics retailer. Because production of these is customised, the

minimum order value for each colour and order is €1,000 plus the statutory value-added tax (VAT).
