■Overview

This tool provides a function to update the firmware of the Product to the latest version.

This tool may cause all the data and initial settings stored in the Product to be lost. Back up your data

on multiple types of storage media before using this tool.

After using the tool to update the firmware of the Product, the firmware is the following version.

FlashAir firmware version: F24A6W3AW1.00.03

■What you need to start

A FlashAir memory card (the Product)

Computer running Microsoft® Windows® XP, Vista, or 7

SD memory card reader/writer supporting SDHC memory cards

(If your computer has an SD memory card slot, confirm that it supports SDHC memory cards)

FlashAir firmware update tool

Digital camera that supports SDHC memory cards

■Operating precautions

This tool formats the Product after it updates the firmware, so a smartphone or some other device

must be used to do the Product’s initial settings to enable wireless communication. Data cannot be

written to the Product while you are doing the initial settings. After you do the initial settings, turn off

the digital camera, take out the Product, and insert the Product again.

Initial settings are required every time the Product is formatted by a digital camera or some other

device. Data cannot be written to the Product while you are doing the initia l settings. After you do the

initial settings, turn off the digital camera, take out the Product, and insert the Product again.

■Installation of FlashAir firmware update tool to a computer

Download the FlashAir firmware update tool (FAFWUpdateIns_v10003.exe) from the download site

at http://www.toshiba.co.jp/p-media/wwsite/flashair.htm , and save it in any folder you like on your

computer.

That’s all you need to do for the installation.

Double-clicking FAFWUpdateIns_v10003.exe starts the installation on your computer.

Choose the appropriate language and Click “Next >”.

After preparation of installation is finished, the following screen is displayed, click “Next >”.

Choose a location for installing the software and click “Next >”.

In this manual, the location is not changed.

After preparation for installation is finished, the following screen is displayed, click “Next >”.

After installation is complete, the following screen is displayed. Click “Finish” to exit the wizard.

After the installation is complete, a “FAFWUpdateTool_v10003” icon appears on your computer’s

desktop.

The FlashAir firmware tool is now installed on your computer.

■How to update the firmware

Insert the Product into a SD card slot of your computer that supports SDHC, or insert the Product into

an SDHC memory card reader/writer that is connected to your computer on which Microsoft®

Windows® XP, Vista, or 7 is running.

When the following screen is displayed, use Explorer to open the folder and browse is contents.

Access the product from your computer to confirm that the connection was done correctly.

Note: Updating the Product’s firmware formats the product and deletes all recorded data. Before

doing the following operations, back up your data to a computer or storage media that supports

SDHC cards.

To start the tool, double click FAFWUpdateTool_v10003.exe

The drive in which the Product is mounted is displayed in the “Drive” box. In the following example,

the Product is mounted in drive F.

Select the drive on which the Product is mounted.

Click the ”Update” button.

The FlashAir firmware update tool will check the current version before the update.

If the version of the Product cannot be confirmed, the following dialog is displayed.

Remove the Product by using the “Safe to remove hardware” feature.

Remove the Product from the SD card slot. Then insert the Product in the SD card slot again after

five (5) seconds, and click “OK”.

After a while, the following dialog is displayed.

When the following dialog is displayed, click the ”OK” button.

Writing of the software to update the Product starts. While the following dialog is displayed, do not

remove the Product and do not turn off the computer, doing so causes the update to fail and prevents

the Product from starting

When the following dialog is displayed, remove the Product by using the “Safe to remove hardware”

feature.

Insert the Product again, and click the “OK” button.

When the following window is displayed, remove the Product from the SD card slot. Then insert the

Product in the SD card slot again after five (5) seconds, and click “OK”. When the update starts, a

progress bar is displayed and the following dialog box is displayed when the update is finished.

After the following dialog box is displayed, remove the Product from the SD card slot. Then insert

the Product into the SD card slot again after five (5) seconds, and click “OK”. The progress bar is

displayed again and when the update is finished, the following window is displayed.

After the update is finished, do the initial settings according to the supplementary manual attached

to the Product. Refer to How to use "FlashAir™ Setup Software" at

http://www.toshiba.co.jp/p-media/wwsite/flashair.htm.

This completes the product’s firmware update.
