Introduction

Important! The Flash DIMM option kits allow downloading PCL fonts and forms to the printer. How these fonts and forms are used in printed documents depends on the particular operating system and software application in use. This requires programming experience and an understanding of embedding control codes, which is beyond the scope of this software and documentation.

Introduction 1

General Information

The Flash DIMM card can be used to store fonts and overlays (PCL Macros), both of which are downloaded to the DIMM using the Storage Device Manager (SDM) software supplied on the CD with the kit.

FontsFonts in either of the following formats can be stored:

• .ttf (TrueType fonts)• .sfp (PCL bitmap fonts)

Overlays: PCL MacrosOverlays such as

• letterheads• logos• forms, etc.

can be stored on the Flash DIMM, then used in printed documents.

PCL Macro Control Codes

The following table summarizes the control codes for PCL macros.

For a complete list of control codes supported by the printer, see the Reference PDF file in the root directory of the CD supplied with the Flash DIMM.

Command Explanation

ESC&f#Y Macro ID. # = ID number (number you assigned to the macro when creating it).

Note: If you don’t know the ID number, print the File List using Storage Device Manager (click Printers → Print File Listing). The ID number is the number which precedes the double colon before the file name for the macro; e.g., for 5::logo.bin, the ID number is 5.
