The introductory paragraph is where the writer introduces the

topic to the reader.

It is important to make this statement clear and

limited. This is where the writer grabs the reader’s

attention

Between all paragraphs of the essay, there needs to be

one of the following:

•A transition word

•Phrase

The body of the essay contains paragraphs two through four,

which are similarly constructed.

Topic sentences are statements often in the

original form, of the three supporting ideas presented in
