FITNESS FOR KIDS HEALTH FAIR TARGETS CHILDHOOD OBESITYTo be held at Association House of Chicago on September 12, 2009
CHICAGO, IL. – Association House of Chicago is promoting physical activity for Humboldt Park children and youth at the annual Fitness for Kids Health Fair. The Health Fair will be held on September 12, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1116 N. Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60651.
The annual Fitness for Kids Health Fair helps increase community knowledge about the risks associated with childhood inactivity and subsequent obesity and to enable families to manage their health and wellness through physical movement, active play, healthy eating and education.
Fitness for Kids will offer free dance and aerobics classes for children as well as jumping houses throughout the day. Music, dance and martial arts performances by community clubs and Association House program participants will be featured. Additional activities will include arts and crafts, face painting, games and raffles and a skatepark. Bring your skates, skateboards and protective gear! Healthy snacks, information and education in both English and Spanish will also be provided. All the activities and services at the event are free.
ASSOCIATION HOUSEThis year Association House, 1116 N. Kedzie Ave., will celebrate 110 years of continuous service. What began as a settlement house started by Ellen Holt and social reformer Jane Addams in 1899, has gown into a community resource that provides a state-of-the-art technology center, job placement programs, a safe haven for children and teens from one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, and a food pantry.
