My HealthCore and More Staying strong and healthy as you age begins with a well-conditioned “core.” At this fast-paced class, you’ll work those important core muscles that stabilize your torso. A certified group exercise instructor will put you through a fun, high-energy workout that will trim your waist while building up your core for greater strength, balance, endurance and function.

Tone N Sculpt Get in the best shape of your life in this class that works all your major muscle groups. A certified group exercise instructor will lead you through various resistance-training exercises to target your legs, glutes, chest, back, shoulders and arms, improving strength and definition.

Shoal Creek – Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m., Thursdays, 5:30 p.m.

Parkville – Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m.

HIIT Are you ready to “HIIT it” and go farther than you ever thought possible? In this class, a certified group exercise Instructor works you hard with short bursts of maximum-intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low- to moderate-intensity exercise. You’ll enjoy improved strength and endurance by pushing yourself beyond the upper-end of your aerobic exercise zone, and gain benefits you can’t get from traditional “steady-state” exercise.

Shoal Creek – Fridays, 10 a.m.Burlington Creek – Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m.

Tabata The Tabata form of exercise is a proven way to boost your metabolism and burn more calories than you can in a normal interval training class. You’ll work out with maximum effort in a series of 4-minute intervals, with 20 seconds of intense moves separated by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times. Feel the burn!

Shoal Creek – Mondays, 6 a.m. Tuesdays, 7 p.m.

Tai ChiTai Chi is clinically proven to be an effective way to improve your health, fitness and relaxation. Tai Chi for Beginners and 24 Forms Yang Style explores this ancient practice in a class that is enjoyable as well as instructive. You’ll learn balance techniques to build strength and prevent falls. The class will be taught by a certified Tai Chi for health instructor-senior trainer.

Shoal Creek – Mondays, 10 a.m. Thursdays, 6 p.m.

Yang 24 Forms Tai ChiThis popular Yang style explores the ancient practice of tai chi that is clinically proven to be a powerfully effective tool promoting balance and strength while improving general health and fitness. The class is enjoyable and appropriate for intermediate or advanced students who may progress to Sun style and Tai Chi for Energy lessons.

Beat the Heat During Your Summer WorkoutAfter a winter of cursing the cold weather, it won’t be long before many of us are lamenting the heat! Soaring temperatures can make exercise uncomfortable as well as dangerous. Join us to learn how you can actually enjoy your outdoor workouts while staying safe and productive, even during the hottest summer days.

Shoal Creek – Thursday, August 6, 10 a.m.

Boot CampIf you want to give your metabolism a makeover, this is the workout for you. At this outdoor class, you’ll push yourself mentally and physically to the next level. A combination of calisthenics, strength lifts, and bodyweight exercises will take your muscles and cardiovascular system to new heights. Show up with a “can-do” attitude and dress for the weather as this is a high-intensity class with instructors who will motivate you! It’s going to be tough, but it’s going to be fun. Give it your best shot!

Cooking for Health: Intro to Ancient Grains Quinoa, amaranth, farro...the list goes on. Ancient grains have come into focus as a trendy new superfood, but do they live up to the hype? Join us as we discuss the health benefits of cooking with ancient grains - our recipes feature seasonal produce, exotic flavors, and crunchy, crisp veggies that will please any palate! Chef Sam, Mosaic Executive Chef, will prepare Amaranth Tabouleh, Farro Risotto with Shrimp, and Curried Quinoa Wraps. Dietitian Cara will discuss the advantages of cooking with whole grains and planning meals to include essential nutrients for health.

Cooking for Health: Breakfast AnytimeLooking for ways to create a satisfying and nutritious breakfast meal? Or do you need a switch in your weeknight dinner routine? Breakfast foods can often be “desserts in disguise”, but there are endless options for creating a meal that features fresh produce, hunger-crushing protein and fiber, and exciting flavors. Join us as Chef Sam, Mosaic Executive Chef, prepares a Roasted Veggie Frittata, Apple-Cinnamon Pancakes, and a Sweet-Potato Breakfast Hash. Dietitian Cara will be on hand to discuss the benefits of eating breakfast, incorporating fruits and vegetables into breakfast meals, and adapting breakfast foods for any time of day.

My Inner PeaceRestorative Yoga Achieve the necessary balance between body and mind while your physical and mental tension dissolves. This class features a deeply relaxing series of supported poses, guided relaxation, deep breathing exercises and an extended savasana (final resting pose). For students of any level who seek to reduce the effects of stress.

YogaThis Hatha yoga class combines breathing and postures that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. A YogaFit-trained instructor will help you experience first-hand all the strength, flexibility and balance that can be gained through yoga. Appropriate for all skill levels.

Surviving the Loss of a Loved OneCome explore the stages of bereavement and examine how best to find help and support after the loss of a loved one. We will explore the feelings experienced and coping strategies, as well as examine how to support others who are experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Shoal Creek – Monday, July 20, 7 p.m.

Living with a Loved One with DementiaLiving with a loved one with dementia can be tolling emotionally. During this workshop, we will explore the behaviors and caregiver responses to the person with dementia. We’ll also provide suggestions about how to live well with someone you love that has dementia.

Shoal Creek – Monday, August 17, 7 p.m.

Pain and Risk of AddictionChronic opioid therapy for pain management comes with risks. The benefits may leave you wanting for more and better relief, which can then lead to dependence and even addiction. The medications associated with chronic pain management and relief are often disappointing and even create other problems. Come learn about pain and the risk of addiction with one of our providers.

Choose from a seasonal selection of healthy and delicious recipes that will fit into a variety of lifestyles. We offer options for clean eating, vegetarian, Paleo, heart healthy, gluten-free and more. You pick what you want to cook and then have the option to take home additional meals. Make your selection from our recipe list and we will take care of the rest.

Find out more about the nutrition and health benefits of this super-food, and learn an array of different ways to use blueberries in the kitchen. We will even prepare a delicious blueberry recipe for you to sample!

Boosting Body ConfidenceWe are often our own worst critics. We say things to ourselves, and about ourselves, that we would never say to a friend. Why are we so hard on ourselves and our bodies? Does it really do any good? Join us to learn more about how you can love and respect your body by giving it the care it needs. By doing so, you’ll increase in confidence in yourself and project a more positive image to others.

A Culinary Trip Around the WorldWhether you are in a food rut, or just want to try new things and learn about different cultures, this class is sure to inspire you to try something new. Each class will focus on a different country or cuisine. We will discuss the roots of common dishes and their important ingredients, and you will have the opportunity to sample a delicious authentic recipe.

Wild Edibles – Weeds on My Dinner Plate?While most people think of the dandelion as a nuisance to battle each spring, they often don’t realize the nutritional value it holds. Instead of pulling out the weed killer, maybe we should be harvesting them for our dinner plates. In fact, the dandelion is just one of many common wild plants that offer more nutrition than you will find on a typical salad bar. Join us for an inside look into the world of wild edibles. We will discuss what to look for, what to avoid, and how to prepare some of these underappreciated plants.

Join us for this hands-on class that will teach you how to make your own flavored oils and vinegars. You will even get to take one home!

DIY Nut ButtersIf you love nut butter and have always wanted to make your own, you’re in for a treat. With a decent food processor and your favorite nuts, you can easily make homemade nut butter. We will show you how to do it. You’ll learn fun ideas for mixing and matching nuts, and even adding seasonings for a one-of-a-kind flavor you won’t find in the grocery store.

Pancake Take and BakePancakes, everybody loves them. But they aren’t always the healthiest breakfast option. In this fun hands-on class, you’ll get the ingredients to make and take home your own custom pancake mix from scratch. Whether you want to reduce sugar, cut out gluten, or increase fiber, we have you covered. You will work with different seasonings and spices, and even learn healthier toppings to make your next pancake breakfast a meal to remember.
