FISHING FOR FREEDOM • THOUSAND ISLANDS
2014
Alexandria Bay, New York - The community is invited to be a part of the 1st Annual Fishing for Freedom Bass
Tournament set for July 25 - July 26, 2014 at Bonnie Castle Resort in Alexandria Bay, NY. Fishing for Freedom
will pay homage to Active Military by celebrating freedom and outdoor recreation in Northern New York.
In collaboration with Army Bass Anglers, we have the opportunity to bring some of the best anglers in the
country to our own backyard. Although this is an amateur it is a professional grade tournament that will draw
crowds from all over the state and beyond.
This nationally televised event will kick off Friday evening, July 25th with a BBQ banquet for all registered
anglers and Active Duty Military. A meet and greet with Cody Roberson, Army Bass Anglers President and a
presentation by Guest Speaker Kim Munley will also take place that evening. Kim Munley is an American
Hero, who saved countless lives during the terrorist attack at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. Anglers and
families can also enjoy an auction to benefit the Fort Drum USO and Carthage Area Hospital while listening to
live entertainment by the band “Movin on” and checking out the competition for the next day’s tournament.
The tournament will begin bright and early the following morning on July 26th at day break. The grounds of
Bonnie Castle will provide onlookers with incredible scenery as well as an opportunity to visit local vendors
and participate in other activities. Throughout the day there will be hourly weigh-ins and cash prizes for the
top 5 bass of the hour. The day will conclude with top prizes and giveaways including this year’s grand prize
a 2014 Sportsman® WV850 H.O. TerrainArmor ATV generously donated by Polaris Industries, Waite Toyota,
and Waite Motorsports.
