FACULTY INTERVIEW

I was fortunate enough to finally meet my Engineering Calculus 1 professor, Dr. Kozinski and had the opportunity to interview him. One interesting thing about Dr. Kozinski is that he originally started out school with his highest interests located in the biology field of study.

LIVEWELL ASSIGNMENTS

This semester we happened to complete a series of 3 livewell assignments as well as 9 homepage activities. They were all very helpful regarding certain social studies such as alcohol/drug abuse, dietary, and exercise habits. We also took an alchol education tutorial to enhance our knowledge about nationwide alcohol abuse.

DIVERSITY REFLECTION

I was fortunate enough to explore my religion of Judaism this semester. Previously to these past few weeks, I knew very little, if any of my religion. Prior to this semester I have been in a temple (at most) 1 or 2 times. After attending ceremonies and religious affairs such as sukkot, rosh hashana, and Friday night Chabbad, I realized that there is plenty to learn and experience as a Jew.

ACADEMIC ADVISING

A few weeks ago, I met with my academic advisor; Cynthia Blunt. Although I had to wait outside her office for an hour and a half since she doesn’t work with appointments, it was well worth the wait. Cynthia helped me change my major to my newly desired one, Industrial Engineering. Also, she told me my new critical tracking courses as well as those which I should be taking next semester. She answered other very helpful questions regarding registration and major requirements by the University.

CAREER SHOWCASE

On September 28th, I attended the University of Florida career showcase at the O’Connell Center. I spoke to several companies, among which were Disney, Verizon, and Anheuser Busch. In preparation for this, I made my own resumè with the help of the Career Resource Center in the Reitz Union. The new advice I was given and information given to me by these representatives was very overwhelming. However, this opportunity couldn’t have been more useful at such a crucial time. Me experiencing this event so early in my college career will set me up very well for future job, internship, and career showcase interviews.

COMMUNITY SERVICE FIELD TRIP

Although I was not fortunate enough to attend our class’ own community service field trip, I was able to tag along with a Warrington Welcome class to help clean a nearby river, the Suwanee River, as a part of a county wide cleaning project. It made me feel great knowing that I was helping the environment while also helping the people who live around this area at the same time. Here’s a picture of me and my friend Jordan…

OVERALL SUMMARY

Overall, I have found this course to be the most helpful of all the ones that I am currently enrolled in. Almost everything that we learned each week in class with A.J. and Rachel has been beneficial in some way, shape, or form. Whether it be financial management, time management, or learning about the true diversity of our population and learning how to survive college on your own, new information and tips have been coming my way to this point. I feel that I learned a great amount.
