Welcome to Prairie Hill

Welcome Visitors Welcome to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. We are a loving and

welcoming family of faith, excited about what God has done and continues to do for us. We rejoice that you have chosen to worship with us. This bulle-

tin along with the screen in the front of the sanctuary will guide worship. The page numbers for the service refer to the front of the red hymnals in

the pew. You will find hymns in the back of the same hymnal. The * indicates where you are invited to stand. We desire and encourage children to partici-pate in our worship, but just in case, a cry room and a bathroom are located near the church entrance. If you have any questions about our church fam-

ily, membership, or interested in conversation with Pastor Kyle, call the church office at 979-836-8666.

Statement of Faith St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill is a congregation of people who love Jesus and are passionate about God’s Kingdom. We are firmly rooted in the

Lutheran “flavor” of Christianity, with a strong emphasis on the power of God’s grace.

Season of the Church Year: Time After Pentecost + Liturgical Color: Purple The Sanctuary colors serve to adorn the worship space, and to call attention to the nature of the season or festival being celebrated. Purple, associated

with Lent, suggests repentance and solemnity.

Worship Times Sundays: 8:00 and 10:05 a.m.

Sunday School: 9 a.m.

Office Hours Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We encourage you take this bulletin home, pray the prayer list, note dates, and reflect of the scripture readings.

“A Place to Call Home”

1You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty— 2you will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my stronghold, my God in whom I put my trust.” 9Because you have made the LORD your refuge, and the Most High your habitation, 10no evil will befall you, nor shall affliction come near your dwelling. 11For God will give the angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways. 12Upon their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. 13You will tread upon the lion cub and viper; you will trample down the lion and the serpent.

14I will deliver those who cling to me; I will uphold them, because they know my name. 15They will call me, and I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue and honor them. 16With long life will I satisfy them, and show them my salvation.

The magnificent white Easter Lily has long stood as a symbol of purity, hope, innocence, and peace. Often called the “white-robed apostles of hope”, lilies were found growing in the Garden of Gethsemane after Christ’s agony. Tradition has it that the beautiful white lilies sprung up where drops of Christ’s sweat and tears fell to the ground in his final hours of sorrow and deep distress.

Lilies to adorn our sanctuary and altar on Easter Sunday will be available for $11 per plant, and may be placed in honor of or in memory of your loved ones. As an alternative, you may also make a monetary donation to Adam’s Angels Ministry, a non-profit organization that provides physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual support to families facing childhood cancer.

Please complete the following form and return with payment to the church office or place in the collection baskets in the narthex and the cubby holes. Deadline is Tuesday, March 8. You may contact Janice Fairlie at 277-8246 if you have any questions.
