Verification of coordinates of a pro-posed depot site is a prerequisite

for obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Defence (MOD). This is done by the office of the Surveyor General of Pakistan through their Regional Offices in various prov-inces. The GO team contacted the Re-gional Office in Lahore for verification of coordinates for depot sites at Mah-moodkot, District Muzaffargarh, Kotla Jam, District Bhakkar and Vehari, Dis-trict Vehari.

The Survey of Pakistan office in Pe-shawar was approached for setting up a GO depot at Sarai Naurang, District Lakki Marwat, while the Survey of Pak-istan office in Karachi was approached for a depot site at Daulatpur, District Shaheed Benazirabad.

The surveyors from the various re-gional offices of the Survey of Pakistan visited proposed GO depot sites and completed the verification of site co-ordinates and height at these depots. They submitted their reports to the respective Circle Directorates which would be forwarded to the Office of the Survey of Pakistan in Islamabad from where the formal letters of verification of depot site coordinates would be is-sued.

Safety alert on heat exhaustion

With the advent of summers, the weather has become very harsh with ambient temperatures rising above 40 degrees Celsius almost all over

the country. The situation becomes worse in areas where humidity is high. This makes the ambient temperature feel even higher than what appears on the thermometer. One must therefore, avoid exposure to the sun as much as practically possible and remain fully hydrated at all times to avoid exhaustion and heat related illnesses.
