Dear Friends of the First and Nativity ministry:
This June 11 we start our Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. It will be
held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at First Lutheran. Children
from our churches and community attend. I believe that VBS is one of the most effective
outreach tools we have. It reconnects us with our community and teaches children the basics
about God and the Bible. I hope that each of you will make an effort to bring your children
and grandchildren and maybe invite the neighbor children too, so they can get to know our
church and learn about God. Each year at VBS we make contact with some family seeking a
church. Our Lord Jesus loves the children and wants them to follow him too. Can you volun-
teer to help in some way? We need helpers and even people to just be present to get to know
the children and their parents. Here is what Jesus says about children:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to
such as these that the kingdom of heaven belong.”
Matthew 19:14
There are children and whole families in our community who have never been to church and
know nothing of the Bible. Often when they begin to hear the Word of God they want more.
Please consider how you can help support our VBS outreach this year!

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS
During the month of June, we have
lots of interesting classes planned. On June 4th we will begin our study of the Bad Boys of the Bible. Allan Munkwitz will share with us about ADAM, our first Bad Boy. On June 11th we will meet at church at 9:30am and car pool to the NATIONAL REGENCY, 13750 W. National Ave. We will have a special lesson dealing with the Bible. After class we will enjoy lunch (cost $7.00) followed by a short tour of the Regency by Chap-lain Steve. Then on June 18th our Guest Speaker will be GUS BARNES who will share his experi-ences at Wartburg Seminary this past year. Finally, on June 25th, Jackie Grauberger will tell us about CAIN, our second Bad Boy. Come and join the fun. Fireside Room, at 10:00am on Tues-days. Bring your Bible. (Don't have one? Talk to John and he will help you find one.) John Ben-nethum is our Teacher.

For Women Only…….
The Saturday Morning Women’s
Bible Study is taking a break during June and
will resume in July. It’s never too late to start!
They will meet at 9:30 a.m. at First Lutheran in
the Fireside Room on Saturday mornings begin-
ning July 1. If you have any questions, contact
the church office.
On June 16, 2013 we celebrate Father's Day. I remember my Father taking me to the new zoo on Bluemound Road in my stroller every Sunday. I loved the animals and on one Sunday, the elephant zookeeper was taking the elephant for a walk. The Elephant gave me his trunk to hold and pet. It was very cool. However, when we got home and my Dad told my Mom about the elephant, she got really mad at him and accused him of putting my life in danger! Boy, if only I could have talked, I would have told her that I was very safe and Dad was way cool for letting me pet the elephant's trunk.
When I got older and was taking dancing classes on the up-per East Side, I locked my keys in the car. My Dad came all the way there to give me the spare set. He was always doing things for me because I was his "little girl."
I have these fond memories of my Father and look back on them quite often, as my Father has gone to Heaven some 30 years ago.
It was very hard for me when my Father died. It took me many years to recover and I still miss him terribly! But after pray-ing about this, God gave me a beautiful answer. He said my Father was in charge of taking care of me and since he was gone, God told me that He is my Heavenly Father and will look after me and take care of me. He reminded me of the Footprints Poem and told me that He has carried me many times since my Dad was gone. Now I answered directly to Him for all my needs, wants and desires. He was here to care for me and I would never be alone even if my Dad had passed away.
I now am comforted by my Heavenly Father and feel happy about that. However, I still think of my Dad and Mom and all the relatives drive God crazy over taking care of me! I know how we Ullerichs can be! Thank God that He has a sense of humor!
I hope all of you have a fantastic Father's Day and make sure you give your Dad a extra hug from me.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Son Quest Rainforest
We’re excited about First Lutheran’s Vacation
Bible School to be held Tuesdays and Wednes-
days, June 11 – June 26, 2013. This year’s pro-
gram is SonQuest Rainforest. Six days of helping
children follow Jesus through a Life Changing Ad-
venture!
We are still in need of adults and high school stu-
dents to volunteer. If you are willing to help,
please call or email the church office. Even if you
are only able to volunteer a few of the nights, any
and all time is greatly appreciated!
If you have a child or know someone that might be
interested in attending VBS, please invite them.
If you would like to preregister, you may do so by
returning your child(ren)’s sign up sheet to the
church office. Children are not required to attend
all the days. We encourage all children to attend
as many days as they can.
Thank you in advance for your help and support,
Bobbie Jo Mleziva and Jamie Schoberg
Runners? Walkers? Strollers? Treat Eaters? Socializers?
Anyone interested in joining a First/Nativity exercise group? Inter-ested in running your first race with a few fellow friends? Need some encouragement to stroll the track? I am considering starting an exercise group to attain all of the above! Perhaps we could meet one evening to exercise (walk, run, jog, stroll, talk) or just enjoy some camaraderie. Hart Park in Wauwatosa could be our meeting place followed by treats (of course)! Join us for fellowship, fun, and some exercise! If interested, contact the church office or Madelyn Herbert to let her know your interest and availability. Watch the Sun-day bulletins for updates!
You are invited to read with us!!

MUSICIANS NEEDED!
Can you tickle the ivories, swing with a sax, toot a trumpet, or sing like a bird? Do your children
play in the band, orchestra or Suzuki? If so - how about offering to provide special music during a worship service this summer. No long-term commit-ments required - even a one-time gig would be appreciated. There are many ways to “make a joy-ful noise” - why not volunteer?

The Haircut
A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car." The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disap-pointed you haven't had your hair cut". The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair, and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair".
(You're going to love the Dad's reply!)
"Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"

Benevolence Update…. Did you know that your gifts to Benevolence serve individuals in the
United States? There are many people in the U.S. that need to
experience the gift of God’s love. Contemporary Christian artist
Brandon Heath’s song “Give Me Your Eyes” addresses how easy it is
to overlook those in our own area that need our help.:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work
He's buying time
All those people, going somewhere
Why have I never cared?
Give me your eyes for just one second
Prayerfully consider your gifts to Benevolence as you ask God to see
the world through His eyes. What is God calling you to do? Who is
God calling you to see?

The Scoop on Stewardship……
THANKYOU! Thank you Lord for entrusting us with our possessions! Thank you Lord
for entrusting each of us to do the right thing with what you give us!
Giving to God is the first thing we should do because we know that all that we have and all that we are belong
to God. Conversations about God’s gifts to us and our generous response help to strengthen our relationship
with Jesus Christ and each other. It is a personal response to make a financial commitment to support God’s
work and develop an understanding of the direction that God is calling the ministry of our congregation.
We have asked you to make a pledge for the support of First Lutheran. A pledge is a promise to God to give
the amount pledged as you are able. Pledging is part of our spiritual growth. We make a faith promise to God
and we do our best to fulfill the promise. The goal of our stewardship ministries is to help God’s people grow
in their relationship with Jesus through the use of the time, talents and finances God has entrusted to them.
Thank you to members for their work and faithful service. Thank you to members for submitting their
Faith Promise Pledges so that First Lutheran can continue its missions. If you haven’t already turned in
your pledge, you can send it to the church, or place it in the offering. Give thanks to God for what
we’ve accomplished this past year and we ask for God’s guidance as we meet the opportunities of the
coming year! With God’s Love, Lavone Reis – Stewardship Chairperson

Spaghetti Dinner Success
Our family would like to take a moment to say thank you so
very much for praying for our son, Brandon, and our family, as
well as the monetary donation…. This has been a difficult time
for us, but with the help of others, and all of the prayers, we
have made it and Brandon is now cancer free. A verse that
helped us through this is Philippians 4:6-7: Do not worry about
anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the
peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The Sexton Family
Food Pantry Connections… “Thank you for the futon - it was greatly appreciated.” Donated by
volunteer Judy to one of our visitors.
Many Thanks…..
Thanks to everyone who helped make
the Spaghetti Dinner at Nativity a
success….. Especially the
members of the Venture Crew 999.
