5. Planning for Next Year 2016/17

All items from the 2015-16 plan – with perhaps the exception of inclusive language – will continue in 2016-17

Work on an ABC Fair in Tyendinaga will be added to support the PSL clinic

Staff training in Nipissing and introduction to the translation will be added – evaluation component also important

Susan advised that there is no call for a Metis translation at this time

CWM e-newsletter could benefit from funds to print brochures, if available

Brandi identified learning opportunity for CYSN around funding models, etc.

Tracey suggested including role play in NWD training sessions

Period Covered: April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016 Purpose: The Aboriginal Planning Working Group was struck by the CYSN on April 24, 2014. The group was renamed FNMI Planning

Corresponding resources are kept up-to-date and are available to service providers on the CYSN website under the “No Wrong Door” tab; i.e., Service Referral Guide by Function, Enhanced 18-month Well-Baby Referral Map, Red Cards, etc.

2) Preschool Speech and Language Services are available in Tyendinaga at the Community Wellbeing Centre. Consultation between the PSL program, the FNMI Planning Working Group and stakeholders ensure that processes around access and referral are as seamless as possible. The FNMI Planning Working Group works to support FNMI engagement around the Ontario Special Needs Strategy and Moving on Mental Health – Ontario.

3) CYSN Website as a communication tool – features Network activities, professional development opportunities and topics of interest to member organizations and community partners. The weekly newsletter provides information about upcoming events and workshop. The weekly blog regularly features news items to enhance awareness and sensitivity around FNMI cultures, traditions and language.
